I've read all these posts about the wonderful doctors in Cleveland and such, but I'm afraid they are probably out of my reach. When the time comes I'll be going to Kaiser in San Francisco, and I hope that some of the members of this site have some good things to say about the hospital and the doctors. My new cardiologist has given me the warm-and-fuzzies regarding the doctors, but it would be better to hear it from others that might have experienced the doctors and the care at that hospital.

Thanks in advance,

Kaiser of NO. Ca. one of the best!

Kaiser of NO. Ca. one of the best!

Although I did not have my surgery at Kaiser (because I wasn?t a Kaiser member then) I would ask allot of questions but would ultimately feel VERY GOOD about it! I am now a member of Kaiser of Northern Calif. And know that it is one of the top medical practices in the United States.

I never was a Kaiser fan in the past and would of shared your concerns, but having kaiser now for 2 years of the 3 years post surgery, I have nothing but praise for them. If I should ever have another heart surgery (God forbid) I too would be at the SF Kaiser and would feel very comfortable about it.

On another note, I have heard that Kaiser sometimes will send you to St. Mary?s or another good hospital in the San Francisco Area.

One more thing, I had my surgery done by Dr. Hanna at St. Mary?s, and know a person who had theirs done at SF Kaiser and her scar is much straighter then mine! Dr Hanna is a very good surgeon, but he kinda messed up on Dana Carvey. That says it all, LOL!!

Anyway, good luck and please let me know how it goes with you and what doctors they give you for future reference.

My uncle recently had his open heart bypass surgery there and had perfect results... He was awake right after the surgery, reported no complaints at the hospital, released after about 4 days and started walking almost rightaway. In a couple weeks he was doing everything he was doing before surgery.. He is 3 months post-op and not to mention still doing great.. His cardiologist was also impressed with the results.. they are calling his surgery a perfect surgery..

Thanks for your input. I've been pretty pleased with them overall, but this is different than going in for a physical.

Talked with my cardiologist about things that have been going on, and it sounds like things that i have put down as being out-of-shape are more likely symptoms that are related to my valve failure, but they have come on slowly over the past 20 years. I am scheduled for a TEE on 2-11, but she said she is changing it from being diagnostic to being in anticipation of surgery. Sounds like I'm in the foothills of that mountain...
