Between work and waiting for Michel Fournier to do his jump from the
end of the atmosphere here a 40 kilometer ascent to the edge of space in a helium balloon and subsequent skydive back dowm to earth ,the whole city has been waiting.was to take place at 4 am from our airport but due to weather conditions its postponed,if he does it at age 66 years old he will break four world records if the skydive is successful.hes travelling in a pressurized capsule tethered to the balloon about 2 hours and a half to reach the edge of space and less than 10 minutes to return to the surface.
He will wear asuit that will allow him to withstand -100ctemp.for about 10 minutes. If the jumps successful he will break records for the highest altitude freefall.he will reach speeds of 1,360km/hor mach 1.3during his return to earth?? WOW glad its him cuz i dont wanna try it for sure.Hes invested 19 millionof his own money into this project,he will bring oxygen on his journey and wear a special suit,4 hours before the jump he will breath pure oxygen
to help him avoid decompression sickness. Now again its set for 4a.m. this morning, wish him all the best in his journey and hopfully all goes well for him,and once again we will head down there to see if it happens this time.

I will be interested to see what the numbers actually are. My understanding was that terminal velocity was 200 Km/hr for a person in freefall. Some people have been able to go faster using various methods. I would imagine he could go faster then that due to the altitude and lower resistance but even so the highest speed achieved was about 1,150 Km/hr and that is considered to be unreliable at best. Do you have a link to the story and continued updates?

if you punch in french skydiver prepares for record jump from 40km
shows news for the U.S. on him and yahoo has alot to offer on updates also.

UNRELIABLE is so true of a discription and the speed will i imagine be tremendous and sooooooo dangerous. its not too clear out here ,however 4 am could very well change the weather situation ,he was set to go this past 4am but weather never permitted at all. But if conditions allow he'll attempt for the launch again at some point.
