Hi Everyone...(put this on pre surgery too)

Not been on for ages....but John has done some pics of his time in hospital and asked me to put this on the Pre Surgery thread. He is doing really really well and feels "incredible" (his words) and I, as his mother, am so proud of him. He is now working, having driving lessons!! and leading a very normal teenage life. He is an extremely positive young man. He has now been discharged for 12 months!! Wow! After all the stress there is light at the end of that big tunnel. John (also know as Lj..."Little John"..which is hilarious seeing as he is 6ft 1!!) was in hospital 5 days start to finish, they managed to take his ventilator off him in recovery so I never had to see him ventilated.

Our thoughts are with anyone waiting for surgery, the wait is really tough and the fear of the unknown but the support we had from here was invaluable...Thank you all. Pics are on the webpage below...

Great pictures and I'm sure they will be appreciated by those in the waiting room. Thanks for the post and give John our best wishes for many happy and healthy years.

Thanks for sharing the pics. It's been almost two years for me and they sure brought back memories.....good ones I might add despite the circumstances. Best regards to John, and congratulations on his first year anniversary.

Thank you so much for posting. I am so glad to hear that John is doing well and behaving like a normal teenager. Hopefully, you can relax now also. Best wishes to him for a long, normal life!

Thank you for the pics John! What a nice young man you are, your mom is blessed. Your pics brought back memories of my valve replacement a little over a year ago and reminded me of how far I've come. The scar at first I was embarrassed by but now I don't care if anyone sees it and I wear it proud because it is the door to my life being saved.

Thank you for sharing the pics. I think it's helpful to see what lays ahead for those in the waiting room and for those post-op, to remember what is behind.

Thanks Karen,
great pictures, we know what to expect as we have done it before, now he is older it all seems a lot more scary. John looks great in the pictures, really helps those of us who are waiting, tell John thanks for sharing and i wish him the best for the future:) .
