Everything looks OK for Joe to come home tomorrow. His fluid is down and his labs are OK. There doesn't appear to be any indication that he has bad valvular problems.
I do believe that we were close to hearing the "not operable" phrase used regarding any 4th surgery. He doesn't need one, but his risk is so great that it would be difficult to contemplate, and the indications would have to be grave to put him through such a risky situation.
He's been stable for a long time prior to this, and I believe he can be managed medically and so does his cardiologist.
They did a very thorough and careful cardiac workup, including testing for his pulmonary hypertension. Not perfect, but OK for the shape he's in.
He's very happy to be coming home and so am I.
