I'm starting the ball rolling on this one so Joe gets a chance to read some posts before he heads for the hospital.

Joe, good luck, good wishes and God Bless you. We'll all be thinking about you and wondering how you're doing. Please have someone post for you.

Seconding the comments above!

Good journey and see you on the other side of this large beast of a mountain. ;)

Joe,
I hope you have reached the "calm spot" that most of us seem to just prior to surgery. Rest well, hug your family and let us know of your progress. Sending hugs and prayers your way.

before going in

before going in

get some good sleep even if you need to sleep in during the day. Get in some good quality time. Make some fun plans for afterward and get some silly and fun things to work on while you're recovering. (stuff you can do even in the hospital) Try to have something for each stage of recovery and it will help avoid feeling down. My wife got me this silly robot arm toy thing from the spider-man movie that helps grab things far away. It's stupid kind of but also really fun to have around and somewhat useful. She also got me a few books that took me a while to get into but books on tape are good for right away. I have a sketchbook that I'm starting to work on and some other things like models (which I don't normally build).

In the hospital I started to just barely begin to understand the joys of ordering special things from the kitchen for late-night snacks and treats. Learn quickly how to exploit this as you will be able to have ice-cream and all kinds of other snacks any time you desire. Don't be shy about asking.

For me writing the just in case letter helped me relax and not stress at times when I was feeling weird or scared.

All in all it's not so bad. (the surgery and all) You'll be surprised at how well you feel on the other side of surgery and you'll be back into action in no time.

anyway that's my 2 cents... enjoy this extension to your life and make it good.

Best wishes Joe,
We will all be thinking of you and yours and praying for a successful surgery and an uneventful recovery. Hope you can have someone post for you!

Joe, wishing you the best! I look forward to hearing a good report of your surgery.

You gain a lot of well-wishers when you slip though here on your way to surgery (or rubberneckers, however you wish to see us). You may think you're alone as you're wheeled to the OR, but many of our thoughts will surely be there with you.

I wish you well, Joe. Good OHS and good recovery.

Best wishes,

:D Joe, best wishes for a successful surgery and super speedy recovery. See you on the other side of the mountain. You'll feel so much better!
Keep us posted.

Thanks.

Thanks.

What a nice surprise. I spent so much time on this site during the weeks and days leading up to my surgery date. But, these last few days I have not really ventured here.

For some reason, just prior to "turning in," I decided to take one last look. Again, a pleasant surprise. Thank you all for your kind words. From the point when surgery was decided, I was desirous for it to happen right away. Well, tomorrow will be here very shortly. My wife and I are ready to get this done and move on to better days.

My wife will post an update as soon as she can.

Joe

Joe,

You'll be with us on the other side of the mountain in no time! You're in my thoughts and prayers for a smooth and successful surgery and for an uneventful recovery. The next few days will fly by and you'll be home in that recliner before you know it.

I'll be watching the board to see your wife's post. My prayers are with her too. She has many stressful hours ahead of her that you'll just sleep through!

God bless both of you and give you peace.

Kay

You'll make it!!

You'll make it!!

:) Hi Joe, I've just read about your surgery and want you to know that we'll all be right here waiting for your return. Do everything the doctors and staff ask you to and you'll be just fine. Best wishes from Brazil! I'll keep you in my prayers!

Joe this is late in posting and I'm sorry, but you will be in my prayers. I 'm looking forward to hearing from your wife on how you are doing. You'll do fine and before long you will be on the other side of the mountain with the rest of us.
