Hi there,
Just to let you know it's been 2 WEEKS since Jim's AVR already! He saw his doctor today and they have concluded the tramadol may have been causing his migraines, but he's managing pretty well without it and hasn't had a migraine since he stopped - paracetemol seems to be doing the trick for pain control. He's also found out he can get his INR checked at the doctor's surgery instead of having to go 5 miles and pay to park then queue for hours! And it was 2.2 yesterday so that seems to be OK for the time being. The doctor is happy with his progress.
He's sleeping like a log, just told me he didn't get up until 11am this morning!!! And also getting his appetite back big time, just in time for Christmas dinner!!
Merry Christmas to you all,
Gemma & Jim.

Great news to hear! It has been 2 and 1/2 weeks since my surgery and I must say I am jealous about his being able to sleep. But even that is getting better for me. Seriously I am delighted Jim is doing well and hope the rest of his recovery goes as well. Here's wishing you both a joyous Holiday'

Hi Gemma-

What a great post. Jim's sleeping like a log. that's half the battle. I'd say he must be feeling better, or still enjoying his pain pills :p

Great to hear Jim's doing so well!

Sleeping patients are easier to care for - not as grumpy, either. The need for pain meds will pass quickly.

Have a Merry Christmas!

I'm with Nancy! If Jim is already able to sleep well then he has alot of jealous post oper's who are wishing they were in his shoes.

Great to hear that Jim is doing well! I will be praying for his continued smooth recovery.

Ross,
Are your sure you are not sleeping because you always have one eye open watching for that cat?

Ross, Jim's cat likes chewing through cables too - must be something in the tubing that attracts them!
Jim over-exerted himself a bit on Christmas Eve, think the fact he felt so good got the better of him... anyway, he was achy and tired all day yesterday. Didn't stop him having second helpings of everything of course:D And a nice cold beer;)
He's feeling better today mainly as a result of sitting around most of Christmas Day rather than trying to be superhuman! Has had a few migraines today and is feeling a bit tight-chested which no doubt is par for the course. I'm going to take him for a walk shortly, hopefully the fresh air will help.
Hope everybody had a nice Christmas Day.
Gemma & Jim.

You might be on to something there Steve. A heard a rustle last night and opened one eyeball to check out the scene. Ol Puffmeister was stealing some of gam's tube socks and carrying them out to the living room. I think he has some sort of foot fetish or something. A little bit later, I hear the sounds again. Sure enough, there goes another pair walking past the bed. :D

Our cat chews on and eats anything plastic - straws, saran wrap, the plastic on cases of bottled water, oh yeah, and bows. You should have seen the Christmas packages under our tree! The bows had a unique shredding to them! And forget the curling ribbon. She can smell that in a closed cabinet and she has been known to get it out, eat it and then toss it back up, on my brand new carpet no less. Why can't she do it on the wood laminate floor, or the old office carpet??!!!
