Hi All,
I have a question about eating to much greens. What can that due to your body or how do you feel? Is there any change in the way you feel or act?
The reason I ask is because I think a few times I over did it with the greens.
I felt light headed and alittle funny even a slight head ache and feeling nausea the next day.
Would that cause that? Thought you guys would know more info on this subject
then the dr. Or could it be because my INR is a little out of balance? Which still trying to get that up. Thanks for all your knowledge on this new kid on the block. Crystal T.

I guess it depends on what your calling too much. A bag of spinich every day? Whole head of lettuce everyday? Just how crazy have you been? Too much of anything is going to make you sick, but I think it would be awfully hard to eat too much in the way of greens. INR isn't going to cause the lightheadedness, that would be a blood pressure issue.

Since warfarin does not change the viscosity of the blood, you should not feel any different when you take it. It slows the ability of the blood to form a clot. If you "think" you are feeling bad from warfarin, it is very unlikely that you are. Warfarin doesn't give much warning of ill effects. If you bleed into the brain you will be unable to function very quickly. You will not have to wonder if it was caused by warfarin.

I'm not trying to be scary. If you keep your INR in range (or reasonably close) the risk of bleeding or clotting is small. You don't have to worry every minute over whether or not something was caused by warfarin.

I also agree that eating "greens" is not a "no-no". They are a source of Vitamin K which can affect your INR, but in normal amunts should not cause problems. If you start "hopping around and your nose starts twitching" you are probably eating too much. I've probably had similar symptons a time or two in the past, just can't remember. If your symptons persist, check with your doc.

Thanks alot for the information. I have felt this way before just not as bad and with upset stomoch adds me to think I ate something. Felt hot and cold all night
with a light headache. Maybe a touch of something. I eat about a cup or two of greens everyday along with a banana & apple with a glass of orange juice most everyday. I'm cold most of the time will be glad to have a little warmer weather
thats hard for me to say when the temps. here get into the 100s. If I feel this way on Monday I will let my dr. know. I get my INR checked on Tuesday.
Keep any more information flowing if you think of anything else. Crystal
