HI ALL
Do you know brand name MARIVAN from GLAXOSMITHKLINE its WARFRIN sodium is there any difference from COUMADIN
And other thing COUMADIN is WARFRIN sodium tablets USP but MARIVAN is WARFRIN tablets BP what the difference between USP and BP and the COUMADIN is crystalline but it's not written on the MARIVAN box
THANK YOU

Marevan IS Warfarin made by Glaxo-Smith-Kline. This is what I have taken from the start. Warfarin is what we call Coumadin in Australia. As for the USP and BP and crystalline questions , sorry I dont know, maybe you could ask your Chemist, they should know.

The way it was explained to me (and i haven't verified it) is that they are manufactured in different parts of the world and so they are branded differently to distinguish them from each other.

This may possibly be to prevent long distance trading of the tablets.

I was told that essentially they are exactly the same.

I've taken marevan from the start, about a year and a half so far.

USP and BP refer, respectively, to the US and the British pharmacoepia, the basic `recipe`or standards book for drugs in those countries; warfarin, as far as I understand it, is the drugs name, and the others are brand names, like we say Kleenex, when we mean a tissue - Kleenex is a brand name (like Coumadin) or Scotties (Marevan) for a tissue (warfarin)

Hope that helps.
