I have had chest pain / angina on and off for three years or more. I have in fact been to the hospital numerous times in that same time span.
Last week l went to hospital they kept me 4 hrs and my blood was fine considered normal for me right now as well as they took a chest x ray ecg talked about my severely enlarged LA my rapid and erratic heart rate and BP. Came home chest pain continued .
I get chest pain daily increasing in level of pain duration and frequency. . I use nitro and Asa to control it eventually goes away. I have both sever mitral valve and aortic regurgitation with moderate to sever stenosis. Awaiting surgeon consult Sept 22 saw my GP last week and cardiologist next week .. sometimes but not always that chest pain is coupled with yes numbness on lips face heaviness of arm headache nausea and dizziness etc .
My arteries are in reasonable condition. . However l do have a blockage not in my heart but a outside my heart between my left shoulder and my heart discovered during my heart/cath l am in a 24 mths waiting Q to have this blockage dealt with.
Is it normal for someone waiting value replacement to have so much Chest pain ???

Thank you honeybunny, Hope you are well enough!
l appriciate it. I guess the better question would have been. Has or does anybody else experience chest pain at all !! At any time with a vascular disease including aortic and or mitral value. Besides all of the other symptoms such as shortness of breath.

Am l the only one ~

I understand everyone is different with various degrees of valve severity ... just curious to know or am l out if the ordinary.

When I was becoming symptomatic due to mitral valve regurgitation I had a little bit of chest pain on the right side, which is where I experienced the gurgling in my chest/lungs that turned out to be pulmonary edema. But I didn't have any of the kind of pain that you describe.

Zoltani thank you !
I can relate to gurgling and fluttering and a feeling like a drop down feeling inside. Along with irregular and radical beats expecially when stressed or while anxious. That has been for 2 or 3 years now but this chest pain is exactly that. Pain almost feels like contractions or a tearing inside left side almost 100 heart pain.
Now my MV has been in serious condition for 2.5 yrs .
The aorta however has just gone from moderate to sever. Most recently so l am wondering if it isn't in fact aorta or just mitral or both .. lol l am just so done .. l have alway been symptomatic long before l was diagnosed.
Thank you Claudia for sharing your experience with me.
Hope your recovery is continually progressive. Xx

Hi Harriet, I don't know if it is 'normal' or not, but I do know that every doctor I saw once I knew about my severe aortic stenosis and regurgitation asked me if I had it, and frowned when I said no. My cardiologist said that it was a symptom which would help in the diagnosis, but that not having angina didn't mean that their suspicions (of severity) weren't true.

Yotphix Thank you soooo much !! Makes perfect sense to to me for the first 2 yrs after diagnosis and particularly of sever mitral l have had so much heart pain. But most resently like l said pain has increase but much different than before as well as increase in frequency severity and as mentioned contraction like or tearing. It was suggested that it could be arteries spasming ..from my GP last week.
Evey time l've complained about pain before l get this very puzzled look from my cardiologists and they say mitral alone doesn't cause that kind of pain 😕
I really do appreciate what you had to say yotphix thx you !!

Harriett, have you spoken to your cardio about the pain that you are experiencing now? If they are not, see if you can talk to someone to explain what is going on. I never had chest pains with Aortic valve, I had it replaced back in 2001. You may also experience stress induce by the issues of both valves. It is possible and when do they day you may have replament surgery. I still have palpatations st time due to age. But I hope you get the answers soon. Hugs for today.

Hello Carolinemc
Thanks for your in put. I saw my Cardiologist last Monday and went thru the whole list of symptoms. He had the girls in the office call Calgary where my file lies on someone's desk in triage. I am waiting to see a neurologist for a blockage of 80% between my shoulder and heart on my left side that was discovered during my heart Cath in May he request that l be looked at and a Stent put on before the end of this month as l see the surgeon on the 22nd. . And hopefully at that time a date will be set for very shortly there after. I am waiting for a phone call to head up to Calgary now to see a neurologist ASAP. They waiting time is literally 24 mths they have had my file since May fir that issue. So God will things will start to happen really soon. I think l am mentally emotional and spiritually ready. Sending hugs back .. thx u and hope you are well. Xx
