This seems like as good a place as any to introduce myself. I was born with tetrology of fallot, had a BT shunt in 1962, TOF repair in 1969, mechanical aortic valve and ascending aortic aneurysm graft in 2010, and dual chamber pacemaker for 2nd degree AV block January 2011.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some other folks that can relate to major heart surgery, and living a normal life with the constant click, click, click of a mechanical life saver. :cool2:

Welcome, I'm always glad to meet Adults w/ CHD that are doing so well. If you haven't found them, you might also want to check out the forums at the Adults w/ CHD site, http://www.achaheart.org/ There are a few members that had their first surgeries around the time you did, amd know what it can be like having heart surgeries thru out their lives.

I am new to this site like you and very happy I found it. I have a mechanial mitral valve so I understand the click, click, click.Well mine is not constant I do hear it.
I just remind myself that as long as I can hear the click I know the valve is working and I have another day with my family.

Hi J.....Welcome aboard from another TOF patient. I am about your age....maybe a little older. I never had the BT shunt. But I had a complete intra-cardiac TOF repair in 1959 when I was very young. Then I had to have a pulmonary valve placed in 2005 which is when I found this place. I have found a lot of help here and I'm sure you will too. I also echo Lyn that you might also be interested in the adults with CHD site.
