YIKES! Very Scary reading! And we are supposed to be a civilized nation caring for our children, ill and elderly. Hah!

Par for the course. My experience is that insurance companies are just fine as long as you pay your premiums on time. The problems start when you make a claim.

Thanks for sharing it with us. Pretty scary reading!

You are welcome ... and yes it is.

The article was posted on one of my car-related mailing lists because one of the members is fighting for his disability benefits as I type this. It's rather disheartening....

A nightmare.

I was the only person at my company who had a good experience with UnumProvident, who provided the disability coverage at that time. The company subsequently dumped UP and went with MetLife (can't say if that's an improvement since I retired).

I really think that anyone who gets any guff from an insurer should hire a lawyer sooner rather than later. Saving a little for legal fees on the front end can result in financial ruin in the long run.

*nods*

I agree, begrudgingly.... It just seems so .... hate to use the word, but it fits .... unfair.

*sighs*
