I haven't changed my diet and over the last 2 months my INR reading has been near perfect at 2.8-3.3.
I went to a wedding out of town last weekend, missed one night of my Coumadin and had a few glasses of wine and since that night my INR has been falling slowly.
I home test so i have been checking it quite often since the wedding when I noticed it going down.
The past 2 days I have checked it and it has been 1.7 on my left hand, then I immediatly prick the finger on my right hand and its 1.5.
Either way its still low, i haven't changed anything, ive been staying away from greens and I take my one baby asprin every day.
Im on Coumadin 6mg per day and Toporol XL 100mg per day. Thats all I take.

Also, I was on Amioderone and quit it about a month ago, I remember my surgeon saying my INR levels would go down once I got off of it, could they start dropping now a month later due to being off Amioderone?

Any ideas, should I take a double dose or just wait it out, other than that I feel awesome.

Thanks,
Tommy

One things for certain, you need to increase your dose at least temporarily. 20%?

It could well be the Amiodarone, but I would think it would be a longer wait then this. All of us are different, so maybe your mileage is varying?

My understanding is that Amiodarone will cause your INR to RISE so yes, coming off Amiodarone could well be the cause of your slow decline in INR. Note that Amiodarone has a LONG half life and may still be in your body at some level for several months after discontinuation. Ask your Doc's or Pharmacist for a more definitive time table.

I was on Coumadin for about a year. I was on Amiodarone for about two months before my surgery and about 1 month after. It took several months for my INR to stabilize. It was always low the first few months. Since I do not have a mechanical valve (MV repair) and since I was in normal sinus rhythm ever since my cardioversion and being on Amiodarone, I was not worried about the INR being too low.
