I'm far from expert on Coumadin, but I don't have enough information to help much here. We need to know where your INR stands now. You should be getting a equal dose every 24 hours, not spread apart over every other day.

Chris you need to see a Doctor that is going to take care of you. I can't stress that enough. That Coumadin clinic your going to is going to get you into serious trouble if you don't do something about it.

Chris I know your having a very rough time, I'm sorry that I'm not a Doctor that could help you the way you need to be helped. I'm shocked that your Doctor didn't prescribe something for your knee as it stands now until you can get to a Rheumatologist.

Your body needs a steady dose of Coumadin every 24 hours. It takes almost 3 days for the dose to show in your blood tests. If they have you doing alternate days, it's leaving 1 day for you to bottom out and there never going to get you dosed correctly. You'd be better off taking 1 1/2 mg everyday. That is a very low dose, but I don't know how your body metabolizes the drug and like I said before, I'm not a Doctor, but I do know that what they have you doing now is not going to accomplish anything.

Is there anyone at MediCal that can help you with referrals or get you to appointments?

My Goodness...you need a new doctor! It does not sound like your needs are being met AT ALL! Please consider seeking other medical help!

Hi

Hi

You sound familiar..Would you happen to be Persianlady? And re-registered again? If so,..just remember to click reply to this thread.....Have you tried taking Tylenol..Should not interfere with coumadin...and try to find a Coumadin clinic near you. I'm not a doctor but I don't think what your INR is..it shouldn't make you feel bad..Just need to get it stable so you won't bleed..or worse. have a stroke...and make those teenagers do some work around the house...they can do their on washing clothes, ect. Good luck. Granbonny

You can not predict your INR by how you are feeling. The only way you can tell is by testing. It is too important of a drug to fool around with so please be persistant to find someone who is knowledgeable in coumadin management.

I just got a call from my Drs. office ten minutes before he closed how nice of his nurse to call me days after I had my INR checked last week they said it was 1.6 itsnt that a bit low ?need some adivice from my family there take care everyone thanks chris in ca

Yes, that is low. Did they tell you to increase your coumadin and by what amount??? And they're just getting back to you when it was done last week??? Is this usual and customary for them. IF it is, find someone else to manage your INR. They should be getting back to you the same day. More than likely your INR is not the same now that it was last week. It doesn't make much sense to dose you now on numbers from last week. Although maybe it's better than nothing.

Hopefully Al is reading this and will weigh in. I believe that the INR for an AVR is 2 - 3.

My mother has been in the hosp. since Sunday & Mike, my husband had his legs taken care of yesterday. The good news is he is doing great. But I can't say that for my mom. I hope yours gets bettersoon
