I checked my INR last night and it was 7.1. I have been up this high once or twice but just for a very short period. This time I'm not sure how long it's been this high, since I've only been testing once a month. I had been doing great...always in the range, so I started spreading the tests out more. Now, my question is this: I have had a very upset and hurting stomach for a couple of days now and feel very light headed and very very irratable!!! Would any of this have to do with my high INR? I have a call into the Dr. but of course have not heard back yet.

Thank you for any info you guys have.

Dee,

I am only speculating (sp?) but I would think bleeding could cause some of the symptoms you describe. Ulcers (which, of course, cause stomach bleeding) can cause pain and nausea so I would think just plain bleeding could cause the same symptoms. Also, bleeding causes blood loss which can cause dizziness. I would think being irritable is probably from just not feeling well.

I think you should bug your doctor and get in to be checked just in case. 7.1 is pretty high. I would be worried even without symptoms and the fact that you have some requires a checkup.

Good luck.

The nurse just called me back and they want to see me at 4:10 this afternoon. I'm just wondering what kind of tests etc. they might put me through if any? I guess I just don't know what to think.

Yes, someone did buy the castle for 4 million, but no one knows for sure who the buyer was and what they plan to do with it. The guy that was there at the auction that one the final bid was representing someone else I guess. I sure hope they open it back up to the public also and so does everyone else around here. They were expecting it to go higher than that, but I guess that's the way it goes when you auction something off.

I'll let you know what I find out later today.

Went to the Dr. He doesn't think my upset/hurting stomach is anything to do with my high INR, but does think it could be my gallbladder, so I'm schedule for an ultrasound of my gallbladder at 8:00 in the morning. We're leaving on vacation on Sat. and this is all I need!!! Hopefully it's nothing and I'll get to San Diego and all of my problems will go away!! There's been a lot of stress around here lately, I think the beach and ocean will help that

I'll have to let you know when I hear about the results of the ultrasound. I've already been through this a couple of years ago, and they thought my gallbladder was fine, but found a tumor on my liver while looking at my gallbaldder. Hopefully they don't find anymore surprises this time!! Keep your fingers crossed for me. ;)

Dee,

I will pray that they don't find anything and your stomach is just the excitement/stress of getting ready for vacation.

The ocean has always given me peace and comfort. I lived in Santa Monica until about 10 months ago and spent a lot of time at the ocean. I really miss it. The Ohio river just doesn't cut it.

Good luck and enjoy San Diego.

Dee-

Please do a search on this site for gallbladder. There are some posts which you should discuss with your doctor and surgeon if gallbladder surgery is a possibility. Also do a search on Lovenox and see recent posts from Al Lodwick in answer to some of the posts about gallbladder.

My husband had a very, very serious bleedout after gallbladder surgery which almost cost him his life. He was on Lovenox prior to surgery to bridge from Coumadin. Joe will NEVER again use Lovenox or Fragmin for bridging. He'll only allow Heparin IV drip-in hospital for bridging.

Member Sylviayasgur's father had gallbladder surgery as well, and had a similar thing happen, he was also on Lovenox.

Al Lodwick made some very good points that might not be known by your doctors regarding the use of Lovenox prior to surgery needing careful kidney function monitoring. His thought are that poor kidney function either present in the patient prior to surgery or even caused by the surgery itself can cause Lovenox to accumulate in the system, thus possibly causing inordinate bleeding.

It's always better to be careful about these things. So an open discussion with your doctors is warranted about bridging methods.
