Hi Guys,Girls,
Just a question that I need some insite on, my INR has been all over the map since I head my bypass (quad) and my Aortic valve (ST. Judes) replaced on Dec. 13, 2004 so being out of range doesn't really bother me that much anymore I have been as low as 1.8 and as high as 8.1 with no side effects (so far) but I was 8.1 about 3 weeks ago so I skipped two doeses and cut the next two in half....my mistake, I should have only cut one but anyway I dropped to 1.8 so what I did was take 1 1/2 my regular dose of 5mg a day (7.5) then took my 5mg the rest of the week and tested a week later at 1.9 did the same thing took 7.5mg one day and back to my 5mg for the rest of the week acctually a week and a half before I tested again. I tested yesterday Thurs. the 18th of May and I am 4.4 I was thinking of cuttin one dose in half down to 2.5mg then go back on my 5mg for the rest of the week till I test again, does that sound like a plan or does anybody else have a better idea because I am at a loss anymore and really getting pissed off with all of this. Thanks
Jimmy

Make it easier for me to see what's going on, post your dose schedule and amounts by day of week please.

If it were me, I wouldn't change anything for a 4.4 but simply retest in 4 or 5 days and see where things are then. If still a little high, I might reduce my weekly dose by no more than 10%.

Ross: dose schedule

My doseage is usally 5 mg every day unless I have to tweak it a bit around 35 to 37 mg a week I try not to make any drastic changes to try to stop the yo-yo effect unless it is unusally high (8.1) or unusally low (1.8) but at 4.4 (I am suppost t be 2.5-3.5 I'm not sure what to do like I said I'm thinking of cutting one dose in half which would make it 2.5mg then go back to my regular dose of 5 mg for the rest of the week till I test again.

Do you take any other Rxes? What is your normal diet like -- do you overdo it some days with lots of spinach and then not eat any green stuff for a week or so? Do you have any other health issues (diabetes, IBD, dehydration, etc.)?

Most of us are fairly consistent, rather than yo-yoing all over the map, over and under our ranges.

If you can provide all or as much detail as possible about diet and such as Marsha suggests. Something is not right with this picture if your fluctuating that much on that dose.
