I have always thought they taste a little like banana but I am sure it just depends on your tastebuds.

Definitely banana.

Speaking of things the younger generation doesn't appreciate, how about wax lips? Definitely among the finer things in life, right up there with Disco! I bought my kids wax lips at Cracker Barrel about 5 years ago, and they both thought they were gross.

Childhood candies?

Childhood candies?

I was in a long line in a craft store the other day and ended up spending an extra ten bucks on the "old time" candies they had displayed where I was standing and waiting. Can you believe that one of the candies they had displayed was "Pop Rocks?" I never ate those as a kid--they didn't have them then--but my sons did.

A few years ago a cookie company (Mothers) made a sandwich cookie that was like an Oreo but had Pop Rocks in the filling in the middle. They were delicious but were discontinued after awhile. Well, our kids came over for dinner and a movie the other night and they brought some Oreos over and we scraped the innards out and stirred in a package of those Pop Rocks that I bought at the craft store and we restuffed the Oreos. Yummy :p !

there was one of those waxy things that was a musical instrument once you got out the koolaid.

how bout a game of jacks or marbles while enjoying our banana peanuts? Then maybe some dodge ball.

Dodge ball has been banned in the schools here. They have similar games, but played with foam balls that don't fly near as far or hit near as hard. I guess the parents of the slower, less coordinated kids complained that there kids were being humiliated/hurt/etc. I really don't know how I made it through life since it seems like everything I had did now falls under the category of neglectful parents! I think it's still legal to eat orange banana peanuts, although it's certainly not on the recommended organic diet!

We have a great store in the North Carolina Mtns. called the Mast General Store that have huge barrels of all the "old" candy that we grew up with including the orange peanuts and the wax lips and wax "coke" bottles. You can't forget zots and of course the always good for you candy cigarettes (what were they thinking?). Anyway, my kids LOVE going there whenever we go to our mountain house and they really like the old time candy.

I LOVE circus peanuts. Hmmm - was Gina snacking on some at the time she miraculously came up with the answer.

Now could someone get me some Clove or Blackjack gum???

Haven't had one in a long time but I remember being confused that they are orange but taste (sort of) like banana. Didn't understand why they weren't either orange flavored or yellow.

I had the same thoughts Gina--Why banana? And why such a STRONG banana.

I guess you can't argue with success though. They are still around after all these years. And the market got a huge delivery of them in a great big bin.

Does anyone remember those little pie shaped candies about an 1-1/2" in diam. They were in a round fluted tin and came with a tiny tin spoon. I think it was some kind of fudgy thing, but not chocolate, strawberry or lemon maybe.

How about teaberry gum.
