I found an area on my huge arm bruise that is 'warmer' than anywhere else. Is this a concern?

How does one identify an INFECTION?

(How HOT is HOT? )

It may not be an infection. With the swelling you have been having and now this hot spot, I would check in with the dr. You don't want a clot or infection to show up. Let us know what you find out.

Obviously, we're going to suggest you discuss it with your doctor. As the internal bleeding must have stopped, you should bear in mind that the only way the body can move out the accumulated blood is through the lymphatic system, which uses the movement of regular muscles to pump things around, as it has no heart or arterial system.

Vigorous movement won't speed the process up, so you don't need to do anything atheletic, but general movement is necessary to take "the blues" (or perhaps the purples and greens by now) away.

Best wishes,

Hot spot boil like

Hot spot boil like

The hot spot on your arm (bruise) is it raised like a boil and tender at the top?

If so when I had one it was hot to the touch and very tender. So I used my softclix with lancet and the blood oozed out relieving the pressure and heat as well. This haematoma was located above the bone just above my wrist. Only blood came out--so no infection despite the heat present in it.

I probably missed the best opportunity in my life by not taking an INR as the blood flowed out. My cup would surely have runneth over.

Have you had an ultrasound of your arm? And I think you should be concerned about cellulitis which is a skin infection and needs medication.

When I had chemo, my chemo arm and hand blew up to twice its size from the irritating drugs. I had an ultrasound, and had developed thrombophlebitis and cellulitis in the arm. I immediately went on antibiotics for the infection. The thrombo. took a LONG time to resolve.

You need to get some help for this.

AH, that explains some things.

I would wake up in pain, 2 or 3 times a night.
As the day wore on, i.e. after moving around a bit,
I felt better and had increased range of relatively
pain free movement. Thanks for the insight Bob.
