Hello,

I was admited yesterday with Pericardial effusion got the needle and drain put in and I am in pain. I am in the middle of a bout with low grade fever and I am shaking and the needle is hurting. I have to wait for the tylenol to take effect.
I hate it here. I am recovering from robotic mitral valve repair. It was done on the March 14.

I'm so sorry. That must be very rough. We all get so darn tired of being poked and prodded and promised and tossed around! It's alot to deal with!!

I know there are others here who have had this unfortunate experience of going back into the hospital for one thing or another. You are not alone in your experience.

Just keep the chin up... remember...you are alive to be cranky about it!!! It all does resolve and get better eventually. You just have to continue to be patient. We know it's tough.

Oh, this is not fun....try to keep positive and remember that you are going to be fine soon.
I was also back in ER at 3 weeks postop; just some low BP and low INR.
We call these things "bumps in the road".
Tomorrow should be better.

hang in there you will be home and well before you know it. I went to the ER ab out 3 weeks post-op and had the same diagnosis, however mind was mild to moderate and they didn't admit me. I got sharp stabbing pains under my left collar bone, really was tough to handle, Vicodin didn't seem to faze it at all. I was told to take Advil for a few days to help the inflammation and to stop taking it when the symptoms subsided. After 2 days I stopped and haven't had any real symptoms since (2 weeks now). I go for an echo on Monday and they will take a look at the fluid and see how things are. But based on how Im feeling I think my body will have absorbed at least some of it.

Try to hang in there, we all hate being poked with needles so soon after surgery but I bet your home within another day or so.

That stinks! After reading many members accounts of their post-surgery recovery, I've come to believe that this is a fairly common occurence. A very unwelcome one at that.
I hope the drain does its work and you are soon rid of it.
Are you on any meds for inflammation?
Please let us know when this resolves.

Sorry to hear about the bump in the road. I also had pericardial effusion only the needle didn't work so I had to get drained surgically. I sure felt a whole lot better after it was over though. Best wishes. I hope it's smooth sailing from here.

Just got the drain out

Just got the drain taken out. they are going to keep me for an extra day because I was running 103 with fever last night. I am hoping to get a nice dose of morphine and then take a long nap in just a little bit. thanks for the suport guys I am feeling so tired of being sick with endocartitis and then the surgery and now this. I have to keep strong but I am so tired.
