One year ago today, we lost a valued member. It's hard to believe that a year has gone by already. If anyone can or will, PM or email his wife today and see how she is doing. It's unfortunate that things like this do happen and it does snap us back to the reality of what can happen to us.

I'm not good with these types of things, so I'll stop here, but if some of you would like to say something, please do.

We miss you Englander!

I can't believe it's been a year either. It was a shock to realise it had been that long.
Bess, if you're reading this - we're all thinking of you today and hope things are as OK as they can be for you and Shya.
With love from all of us here at VR.com,
Gemma.

I remember my disbelief when a year ago I opened the Forum, and Bess's post about Englander's death hit me like a ton of bricks. I kept looking at it, and rereading it, trying to believe it was true. Tragically, the statistics on the mortality rate for valve replacement had become very real.

I'm not sure how Bess has been able to cope this past year, but in her posts she sounds like she has come to terms with her husband's death. She is a woman who possesses remarkable courage and grace. She has had to assume the role of both mother and father to Shya while dealing with her own personal grief. I can only offer my ongoing prayers for their family and honor Englander's memory by not forgetting his life, nor his death.

Bess, we wish you and Shya the strength to continue life without Englander, to take solace from your fond memories and to thrive in the years ahead as he would wish.

Bess, if you check in, please know that Englander touched many lives here on this board and we have not forgotten him nor you and Shya. I'm sure that it has been a hard year for you but hope you have still found happiness and joy in your sorrow.

Just the other day!

Just the other day!

I was wondering how Bess and wee Shya are getting on. I remember I only read about Englander a week after his passing because my computer had a virus and I couldn't use it. I didn't realize it was on the same day as my sister's birthday. Her father in law also died one year ago today.
Bess, let us know how you're doing!??
Débora
