Hi All,
I had a very bad experience with a thunder storm. It took out my puter and dvd, and vcr on the 4th of july. I live on a budget and meds and the house payment came first.

I lost my state papers that helped me pay for my meds. Due to the fact that my disability is $100 short of covering just my meds each month. I am begining to worry a bit.

So how is everyoone?

This keyboad is going to take some getting use to.

Later,
Medtronic of borg

Hey Med,

You have alot of reading to catch up with everyone! I hope things start going a little smoother for you. I'm glad you are back on line.
How are things going?

Hi Med-

I was thinking about you yesterday and said to myself, "better give that boy a "where are you?" post."

So I'm glad you checked in to tell us.

I hope things work out better for you soon.

Take care,

Hey Med - Good to hear from you. Hope you're feeling well and getting along ok. Chris

Storms

Storms

Glad you are back med. I had an experience with a storm just yesterday. I have never been that scared in my whole life. I heard the tornado sirens go off and did not think to much of it at first, then I looked outside. I went down in the crawl space. For me to go down it had to be bad. I hate it down there and everytime I sent to kids down when they were younger I refused to go. I'm a little claustaphobic. Well, when I saw my patio table fly up in the air and smash down on the deck I figured I better get down there. My hubby works on the river and they were on their way back to the bank when the storm hit. He said in the thirty years he's worked there he has never seen waves that high. We have had some really wicked weather lately. It seems like every week we have been getting socked with huge storms. This year I am sooo ready for fall to get here.

Our city got major flooded last Sunday. They are still cleaning up and many families are now homeless. They were advertising in todays paper that they need more volunteers to come and help these people get cleaned up and if possible, donate homes for the time being.

Hey, Med

Hey, Med

sorry to hear about the loss of your electronic stuff and papers. Have you tried called the office of your local legislator to expedite replacing the papers? I'd be worried too.

It's been a wicked summer for storms - I actually went to the basement for the first time in over 20 years a couple of weeks ago. I'm with Peg - I'd send the rest of the family down and then keep an eye on the sky. But during the last set of storms a funnel cloud was spotted about 3 blocks away - and I never saw it. So down I went.

Med, your experience reinforces what I've known I should do and haven't; I need to get all of my papers (or copies) into the safe deposit box. AND I need to update our "stuff" video for insurance; AND I need to refill our emergency stuff in the basement.

Geesh - it's tough being an adult . .. . :D

We, too, in northwest Florida are having tremendous electrical storms - I have to turn everything off. And Miss Sally Sue will hardly go outside anymore - she holds it for 24 hrs and then runs out and back in because she is so scared. I just keep praying that those lightning bolts will not aim for me, but take a pine tree instead - I have plenty and will gladly spare one. Sometimes it turns dark as night, roars up there and never rains and sometimes the bottom falls out and we get inches of rain - but not like Ross. The weather is not like it used to be - very undependable.

I am sorry you got hit, med - it's a real blow when it happens and in your case, more than a blow.

with you

hey med, welcome back. I am a newqbie but still am glad you are back.. All tehse people w/experience can only mean good things. Anyways hope you get things worked out, Erica

Med, this was in my radio e-news today. These folks had someone looking after them, too:

News August 5, 2003

Everyone knows that lightning can be dangerous, but a Santa Rosa Beach couple found out that it can be extremely destructive, too.
A violent thunderstorm washed across south Walton Monday morning bringing flashes of lightning that lit up the sky.
One bolt hit a pine tree next to the home of Robert ***** and Laurie ******* on Oyster Lake and then went through the house. A million volts of electricity blew doors off their hinges, blew kitchen cabinet doors open, shattered glass and exploded, knocking Laurie H****** up against a wall.
Fortunately, she was not seriously injured. According to the South Walton Fire District, the single strike did about $7000 worth of damage to the home. However, that figure is deceiving because the lightning strike cracked the foundation and destroyed the entire electrical system. It may be some time before the couple can stay in the house.
