I have no side effects from Lisinopril, thank God. I am aware to be careful of over exposure to the sun and to use sun screen. However, I'm not convinced that some of these people are accurate in attributing the host of symptoms they list to this one pill. I've been fortunate in that I don't generally have many side effects from medicines, but I realize that others do. I used to read the lists of possible symptoms with medicines and then get concerned. But, I've since learned that, for me, I have to make the decision for myself whether or not the medicine is right for me.

Are you taking Lisinopril? If so, have you noticed any particular symptoms?
Best wishes.

Hello! My mom, who had mitral valve replacement and triple bypass in April, is on coreg and lisinopril. Yesterday she went to the cardio for a really fun thallium stress test, :D and they had to pump her full of IV fluids before they could do the test because her bp was 70/50  The cardio cut her coreg dose in half, and she has to take her bp every morning. If her systolic is not at least 100. no lisinopril that day. She goes back to cardio next week. No wonder she has felt bad-spacy, not focused-just crappy. We shall see what happens...

As I think I told you in another thread, when I was on lisinopril I developed a very bad cough. Not just the annoying hacking cough many people say they get get from ACE blockers but a deep bronchial cough. Couldn't sleep at night, was living on throat lozenges & cough syrup.
I know you can develop "symptoms" just from reading the list of side effects of a particular med. A "reverse" placebo effect, LOL -- but my coughing wasn't due to that; I hadn't even paid attention to the possible side effects & I didn't connect the two at all. I just thought I had a really bad winter cold.
When I finally went to see my doc, he knew right away what was going on. As soon as he switched me off lisinopril, I stopped coughing. When I was in the hospital for my valve surgery, they started me on captopril, another ACE blocker. Within a couple of days I was coughing again. Once I got them to stop the captopril, I stopped coughing.

After reading through most of this posting, I have to say I don't know how reliable some of the information is. One theme that seems common is a lot of the people there said they stopped taking Lisinopril and still had side effects for a relatively long time after stopping. I wonder then, how can they say the side effects were due to the Lisinopril? Otherwise I found this posting really negative and stopped reading after a while!

As for me, I've been on Coreg 50mg & Lisinopril 20mg for 6 months without much to complain about. I would say I feel more tired than without the meds but it is quite tolerable.

Oh yes, the cough, I forgot about that one. Isn't that the most common side effect (other than the sun exposure issue)? I'm one of the lucky ones, from what I read. Sorry that you went throught that nasty side effect Marge. I'd say that could get on your nerves quickly. Take care.

im on 20mg lisinopril and 12.5 mg of coreg.....no side effects from lisinopril. i know i may get the lecture for skin reasons but i have gone back to tanning in the tanning beds and have not had any problems. my bp is 93/60 and my cardio wants to keep it there to try to get my heart muscle back to normal...or as close as it can. the only thing i noticed is that my contacts get really dry more often and kinda stick to my eyeballs when i take them out. but that did not start until i started taking coreg 6 weeks after surgery...that was one of those side affects i had already read about so i was not surprised when that happened. i just wonder if a majority of the problems are from the lisinopril having a reaction to other meds some of the people maybe taking. i am only taking lisinopril, coreg 2x a day, and 81mg of asprin....been taking lisinopril for 6 months....coreg and asprin since surgery...3 months ago...like i said...no side effects. hope im lucky and that after reading about all of the bad experiences....it does not get into my head and then into my body...lol

No lecture from me. I watch sun exposure particularly because I'm already susceptible to burning. I'm glad you also aren't experiencing ill effects.

Chloe took captopril (ok, different drug but same family) and experienced the evil cough it brings as a side effect. Although, I do believe now that part of that cough was due to congestive heart failure and do wonder how much of the coughs that get put down to these ace inhibitors might be down to CHF too?
She takes enalapril now - no side effects whatsoever.
