Ice Storm

Well, here is good ole' Missouri, we finally got our first major winter storm, an ice storm at that, this week. Kids were out of school and people stayed home on the first day after it hit. I was to scared of falling down on the ice to leave home on the first day. It was too much like a year ago, I slipped on some black a year ago February. So I stayed put. There was outages all over the area, but not where I live. But they worked as fast as they could to get the electricity back on. We are in a warming trend this weekend. Hope everyone else here that was caught in the ice storm faired well. Just had to share.

Caroline, where are you in Missouri. My son goes to Mizzou in Columbia. He went back Monday to get in 2 weeks of full time work before classes started again. His job is 4 miles from where he lives. He said it was a miracle that he got home from work after the ice storm hit, let alone without having an accident.

We couldn't get our son back to school Thursday because of the ice storm in Central Missouri. He's going to try again tomorrow, but he just talked to a friend in Columbia who says it's snowing now.
By the way Caroline, we got 16 inches of snow in SE MO December 22! You all up North are just starting to catch up!

Hi there everybody, it's been so hot in this part of the world these past few days that I haven't even been able to get a decent night's sleep. Stupid flies trying to eat me alive!!LOL!! Anyway, would you mind sharing a few pictures of the snow with me? I haven't seen it since 1987 when I lived in Scotland! My daughter's away to the beach with my sister and her family for the weekend and early next month Robert, Bruna and I will be going to the beach too for the carnival holiday where we intend to spend a whole week in a very nice hotel living it up!LOL!! I think we all deserve a break from the busy capital city life.

They cancelled school here yesterday (Thursday) for a storm that never really came. My son (4y/o) and my dad made a snow sculpture VAGUELY resembling Rolie Polie Olie who is a little boy robot from a CG animated cartoon show....


Then it got warm again and Olie's looking REALLY sad now.... =(

What city in Missouri?

I live by Platte city MO and I was wondering if anyone lives in or around Kansas city MO? I am having my AVR on Wednesday the 12th at St.Lukes by Dr.Borkon.

I live in KCMO and have heard good things about St. Lukes. We have several excellent cardio departments in the metro area. I had my surgery done in what now soon to gone Independence Regional, where my surgeron could do the surgery, although his office was at Research. My cardio is at KU Med, once at Baptist Hospital. So, good luck, you are in good hands. Take care and keep us updated after surgery.
