that affects INR. Ever hear this? I know on this site I have read that INR can be affected by exercise. But was told by my PA and those at Cardiac Rehab that exercise does not affect it directly, but dehydration from exercise could. So the mornings of my INR checks I drink a lot of water:) just in case that helps.
Anyone else heard this? I suppose once you are in range, it really doesnt make a big difference either way? Maybe it could be an explanation for the otherwise unexplained changes in INR levels...

It's BOTH of those. The more you excercise, the more blood is being circulated and filtered through your liver. Dehydation will cause your body to work harder also, hence affect your INR.

If you start exercising regularly your metabolism will increase and most likely your INR will go down. Likewise - if you stop exercising, your metabolism will decrease and your INR will go up (assuming the same dose). But don't worry because it's a gradual change.

The PA is way way way wrong

Great, thats encouraging. After all I have learned on this site, it is frustrating going in feeling like I have a better understanding of all this then "they" do.
I had a nurse tell me while I was on Lovenox that it should help raise my INR. Ug.

Dehydration concentrates the amount of warfarin in your blood, causing your INR to increase.

I tested today at work (brought my INRatio with me, played like a Vampire at my desk). INR was 2.7. Am taking 37 mg weekly. I was 3.1 on my last test (6/15) and increased my dosage by 2mg over the week from 35. No increase in exercise.
However, I've been drinking water like crazy.

I chalk the drop in INR to the increase in liquid intake.

I don't think so. That's the kind of result I might see from an a.m. test and a p.m. test. No real significant difference.

Would it help to tell you that even with your limited knowledge at this point, YOU DO! ;) Your still learning and when you learn more, your going to almost laugh at some of the things that will come out of their mouths. It's sad, but it's true.
