I will need to find a clinic that can monitor my INR in the North Seattle area after I get back from surgery next month if anyone knows of one please speak up.
Thanks
James

A list of Clinics has been posted (or a link to one) in the past.

I'm thinking there is one on the AntiCoagulationForum website.

Have you tried a Google Search for "AntiCoagulation Clinics WA"?

'AL Capshaw'

Would you not want to discuss this with your cardio and/or PCP? Who will coordinate your testing and prescribe your coumadin?

James:

Sometimes patients go to their cardiologist's office for INR tests, sometimes their surgeon's office and sometimes their family doctor or internist.

Some practices have POC machines (i.e., CoaguChek or INRatio) so you get a test via a fingerstick, not unlike diabetics who test for glucose levels, and it's very fast. Some practices rely on lab draws via your arm, and results are not available as quickly. POC machines are best, because your doctor or his/her nurse or lab employee can advise dosage change immediately and answer any questions you might have, rather than than having to wait until the next day and trying to reach you.

Your doctor's practice may be listed under clinic locations at www.acforum.org. Click on WEST; locations are alphabetized by city.

But do check with your doctor first.

Huntsville Hospital has a Very Large AntiCoagulation Clinic in the same building as The Heart Center (>25 Cardiologists) staffed by 5 CRNP's (Certified Registered Nurse Practicioneers) who Read All the (FingerStick) INR results and then recommend dosing for the coming interval. As CRNP's they are authorized to write prescriptions. This unit manages over 1500 patients.

These Ladies are well trained and "Know their Stuff".
I have found that their recommendations are always in line with AL Lodwick's Dosing Guide and (for my situation) they Always recommend Small Changes to 'ease back into range' when I test slightly out of range. Works every time.

Mainframe, I am doing the On-X survey at Tac General. My cardiologist has a Coumadin clinic in Northgate I can go to but I am in Lake Forrest Park and thought that there may be one in closer proximity. I am just going to go to my cardio's office. If I am on the warafin part of the study they will give me home equipment in 3 months....
