HI all,

Thank you all for all the encouragement and well wishes!!!
I would not have made it thought this without this site. I told EVERYONE in the hospital about this site. One nurse even called her mother(in the middle of the night) to tell her aunt about the site. I sure hopes she checks us out.

I finally got out of the hospital sunday( for Mother's day) got home about 1:30pm. It was sooooooooooo good to get home to something comfortable to sit on.:D :D

Nothing major happened in the hospital I did wake up in icu inbubated and did vomit after that I when back out. Thank God. Then my blood work would not come up. The Dr. was sweet and let me come home with INR of 2.02 getting tested again Tues

The only problems I am having is the soreness in the back/shoulder area, still having quite a bit of drainage. and can not lay down flat! Home health is coming out tues. and I will ask them to check it.

I hope have been well and missing all the nasty storms!
I will be "slowly" catching up. with all the posts.
:D :D :D

Nadine,
Great news and congratulations on getting home! Yeah, the back and shoulder pain....it's normal but annoying! Been dodging the storms all last week here in the Tulsa area. Calm now, as it is in your area and that's good, you need the rest!

Nadine, baby is that you??:D

Pleased to hear you are doing well. I'm surprised your response is so soon. Please keep up your spirits and get better and better.
I'M ROOTIN FOR YA!

Hi Nadi-

Home is where the heart is. So glad you are there and doing pretty well, considering.

Hope the rest is smooth and uneventful.

Hi Nadine,

That's great news. Congrat's on getting home. I am sure you will continue to feel better as each day goes by. Take it slow.. and before you know it you'll be well on your way to enjoying life!

Welcome Back! It is so good to read your post and know you are safe home again. Take good care of yourself. I hope you have a very uneventful and complete recovery. Did you get a little heart pillow too?..............................Betty

Hi Nadine,
It's so great to hear that you are home and doing well. Everything sounds pretty typical to me. I pray that you continue to have an uneventful recovery. You will be back to your old self before you know it. I say this all the time, but look at recovery on a week to week basis, not day to day. You will notice the improvements a lot more that way.

Take Care!
Gail

Hooray Nadine

Hooray Nadine

Ain't home grand???

Keep having that neck and shoulders massaged. Several times a day. You can't believe how much it helps.

The first couple weeks are pretty tough. You know the drill - breathe breathe breathe, walk walk walk, nap nap nap. I guess we were all masters of the nap at that stage.

My heart's with you (fancy that - it's healthy enough to help) and don't be afraid to ask for whatever help you need. And TAKE YOUR PAINKILLERS!!!

You'll get better so fast you'll wonder where the time went.

Way to go, Nadine. So glad to hear you're out. What a pleasant Mother's Day gift, huh? :)

I'm five weeks post-op now. The really fun part is literally feeling yourself get stronger almost every day (there are some bad days, unfortuantely). But if you're taking two steps forward and only one backward now and then, you have forward progress.

My favorite parts of the "breathe, breathe, walk, walk, nap, nap" mantra were napping and walking. And napping. Oh, and did I mention napping? How great to be "lazy" and no one criticizes you! :D

Hello Nadine,

Glad to hear things are progressing normally.

I had SEVERE back muscle pains in the long muscles from my shoulders down to my waist that would come on SUDDENLY and INTENSELY. Massages and stretching helped. A heated vibrator (shaped like an engine cylinder valve) was useful for caretakers not proficient in massage. Extra strength Tylenol was also useful but takes a while to 'kick in'. Massages provided much faster relief.

Did your Doctor or Hospital provide you with a set of arm / leg exercises? If not, ask for them. Cardiac Rehab nurses might be another good source for exercise recommendations.

Good news. Glad you made it through OK. Just follow the suggestions on this site.

Congrats

Hey Nadine - Glad to see you escaped from the big house ! Your shoulders will likely be sore for some time, but with some excercise each day, they will slowly get better. I just started sleeping in bed about 4 days ago which feels pretty good except --- I always have slept on my side and have to remember not to try this for awhile as it hurts like the devil. If you put pillows on each side, it will remind you not to roll over. Try to set some (small) excercise goals for yourself and work towards them. It takes awhile, but you'll get there. Keep up the good work. Chris

Nadine,
The grass doesn't look greener on this side of the mountain yet, but it will!
It's amazing how week you feel isn't it?
Everyday, a little stronger.
