Ok, now I need to vent, or cry. For those of you who don't know, I teach dance. I haven't been able to dance much myself much for the past couple of years because of the heart thing! How annoying. So, I finally get it fixed  , and am anxiously awaiting taking class myself, and I have an injured hip. I have been going to PT for it for almost 2 months, with not too much imrovement. The therapist can't figure out why, but we are sticking to the plan. Last week, my calf muscle is aching with what seems to be a minor strain. While teaching ballet last night, I made one "false" move, and snap! My calf muschle sent me through the roof. I can barely walk. I am waiting for a call back from the orthopedist. Dancing is my passion. I just want to feel normal again, (I know, what is normal!) My son starts kindergarten next week, and I actually will have time to take class, but.....And how am I supposed to teach when I can hardly walk? I was back at the studio 6 weeks post op. Made it through that. I really feel crappy. Thanks for listening.

Oh, Candy, I am the one in VR who can truly empathize with you. My passion, too, is dancing. I wanted all my life to be one but didn't even learn ballroom til I was nearly old. When I did, you couldn't keep me away from a dance hall! As to the hip, I had surgery (not heart this time) in May, 2003 and when I woke up, there was something wrong with my hip and I couldn't walk. Oh, the pain of it all. It still isn't right, but is much better now, tho it left me with the knowledge of what you are talking about. You have my complete sympathy. You are young and it will come back, but we don't want to even lose one minute, do we?

BTW, are you on any statins? If you are, we will talk more.

Thank you, Ann, for your reply. Yes, time away from dance is never good! Somehow I have made a living doing what I love even with my heart problem. I adjusted dreams, but made it work. A hamstring tear 14 years ago was almost career ending, but I performed a little less, and taught/choreographed a little more. I haven't really been able to take class since my son was born 5 1/2 years ago. Time and a declining aortaic valve kept me out of class as a student. But, never from dancing all together. I think it is wonderful that you learned to ballroom dance. It will forever keep you young. I also teach 2-step and west coast swing in addition to ballet and Jazz. I don't know how I will do any of it right now! :( . I am not on any statins, yet. I just saw my cardiologist for my 6 month check up and awaiting the results from bloodtests and an echo. I expect to be on something for cholestorol, as mine has always bordered high. With the new information about cholestorol and valves, I bet I will be on something soon. Thank you again for responding.

Candy,

I'm sorry to hear your news. There is nothing more frustrating than to get the "engine" fixed only to find out you have a "flat tire" (speaking from experience unfortunately) .I hope you heal up soon so you can get back to doing what you love to do! :)

Thank you Bryan! You certainly have had your share of flat tires! :D How was your fabulous day at the dentist? :p Ihowp the root canal wasn't too bad. And hope the job quest is going well, too. Thanks again for your wishes. I see the orthopedist tomorrow!

Candy, cholesterol lowering meds can cause muscle cramping. If your dr suggests any of them, be sure to discuss this with him/her since dancing is a source of income and entertainment for you..
