I am curious to find out how many people follow through with email chain letters and believe in the superstition....I have been getting a ton of them in my email and simply because I don't have that many people to send them on to, I don't, not to mention the fact that I don't really believe in them anyway, but I was just curious as to how many of yall do forward them on and what you think about them....Harrybaby:confused:

Morning Ross..

Morning Ross..

I don't believe in them either and try and delete them as soon as I can, but I have noticed that I have been getting bombarded with them lately and I was just curious as to how others felt about them.....They drive me crazy!!! Harrybaby:D  :D

I burn 'em at the stake, Harry. If a letter or email says I will have good luck if I pass it on, or bad luck if I don't, it gets trashed with extreme prejudice.

If the content is really hilarious or greatly worthwhile, I occasionally remove the offending portion about continuing the chain, passing it to seven friends so an angel will visit me, or whatever sick nonsense is there before I remail it to those who might enjoy it.

I consider such entreaties to be mildly veiled threats. Why would I ever send any kind of threat to my friends?

Best wishes,

Hi Harry. As usual, Bob H said it perfectly. I actually become rather annoyed at the person who sent them to me!

But, I am a very superstitious person......and at first, it was very difficult not to try to "do as they said". Over time, it seemed to me that my own people stopped sending them to me, as if the fad had exhausted itself.

Life is precious, as we all know. It is fun to get a laugh and heartfelt to hear deep wisdom.....but for the most part it's a waste of time to even open the things!

I never knowingly pass one on; I feel that it's a form of blackmail.

Having said that, I have several good female friends and relatives (I don't think I've ever gotten one from a male) that send them to me. I read them, so I can answer truthfully that I read them, and never mention that the chain stopped with me.

I hate them  and I never pass them on. I even get ones by phone text and I'm certainly not going to waste my money passing those on! Just recently I was driving my teenage daughter and her friends from school and they were talking about phone texts and passing them on. I told them they were mad. It costs 11 cents to send one text. Most of the messages they got said you had to pass it on to 10 others..when I told them how much phone credit this would cost they began to change their minds about sending them on :p I also managed to convince them that the phone company probably starts the chain by selecting a random phone number and then sits back and watches the profits rise while the messages are passed on and on!

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

It amazes me that intelligent, well educated friends send them to me!!! Can you tell how strongly I feel about them?:p :p :p :p

Good on ya Harry for bringing the subject up...

I have one friend in particular who always sends me these things...
and she does the other "sin" of forwarding them with a big list of others email addys' on them too..really really annoying to me...

I delete them mostly or as some of the others delete the offending chain-mail bits and pass on the nice little thoughts that some of them contain...

I would never knowingly send these chain-ones out and NEVER "forward" them with all my friends email addys on them either...

this friend of mine was wondering about frequent spam-attacks on her puter and I tried to gently tell her I thought this may be why?!...but I dont think she heard me  ...

I dont feel so bad about ignoring them now!:D

It depends on who I receive them from. If I receive them from good friends I'll read them. I find some of them touching, some of them funny, a few with valuable info. I do use Snopes.com to check out their validity if they are supposedly stating true stories. I never pass them on just for the sake of being told I'll ruin my luck- I don't believe that for a second. And I never pass them on to my entire address book - just my friends who I know my like to read them - and I always delete the warnings or promises at the end for luck, before sending them on.

I so totally agree, Bob!

I especially hate the threat.... and if I do occasionally pass one I feel is worthy on to anyone... you can be sure the threat is gone!

The one thing I would add though.... is that it is a way to stay in touch with people you really care about. In a weird way it?s like they?re saying.. ?hey ....?sup... I?m thinking of you :D ?. I do appreciate that side of it.

It depends on who they are from. Most of them I delete.

Harry, how are you doing? You have been on my mind and in my prayers. I hope everthing is better for you. Hugs coming your way.

I am doing better to some degree, but I am really nervous right now about my father...we wont know anything until tomorrow night and if he has to have OHS, It's really going to rock the Lowell family's world...I am really worried about my mama and how she is dealing with all this, but it's also a relief to know that my brothers and I and my mom and grandmother are going to be there for him if he does have the OHS....but that still scares me no less as I know deep down that one day I will have to have it, and I can handle most anything, but, as I have said before, cracking my chest open really scares me to death....I didn't mean to vent this long Glenda, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart as well as everyone here at VR.com in helping me get through this...Hugs and Prayers are coming right back at you Glenda Harrybaby:D :D :D :D

I have to confess that in the two months before Katie's surgery, I would pass them on, prefacing them with my apologizing that "I just couldn't push my luck right now." I usually picked on fellow heart moms as they would know where I was coming from. I came to really resent the senders (unless they were fellow heart moms in the same plight) because I was wasting time forwarding something when there were so many other things that needed to be done. Now, they hit the trash as soon as they hit my mailbox. Jokes are something else entirely. They are always welcomed and are never sent with a warning that you will meet some horrible, catastrophic fate if you don't forward it on. ;) J.
