Hi Stacey,

Hi Stacey,

I had that feeling also about running from the surgery. It was very tempting to just say no I'm not having it done. I'm so glad that I didn't. I am going to have my 3 month post-op check-up next week. I can't believe how good I can breath. I can walk, talk, and eat now without being SOB. I am amazed at how well I feel. The time goes so fast that you will be on the other side of the mountain soon. I know the mind can really get you going in fear, but try to stay positive.

When the reality settles in, you feel like bolting. We all did and do. It's hard to walk in there and know that your going to feel like a truck ran you over when it's done, but hopefully you'll get the results that your after. I'm praying you do at least. Can someone post on you behalf while your going through this? You know us nosey worry worts, we have to know your alright just as soon as possible. :)

good luck

good luck

Hi,

I don`t have anything really useful to say, but I wanted to wish you good luck!

Stacey,

Good Luck with your surgery and remember to let the professionals in the hospital do their thing and let your support group do theirs as well. Now is the time to be competely selfish. I am 9 weeks post op from my AVR and I cen tell you that if I can get past this operation anyone can. I was never in a hospital as a patient before my surgery but with the help of everyone in the medical field, as well as my family I got through it and am now back on the road to recovery.

Be well.....my prayers and thoughts are with you!

Hi Stacey,
It is always scary to face the unknown. I am sure you will come out of this fine. Trust in your doctors, the sugeon, and his staff. Above all trust in God. With that you may find peace. In no time you will be back into your routine, and breathing a lot easier! :)

Take care and God bless you.

Mark

Hi Stacy

Hi Stacy

Be careful driving over on Thursday with the rain that is coming. I know you are a nurse..but ask for a good feel pill before your MRI..That was scary to me more than surgery. :p :p I hope all goes well and you will not have to post-pone again. Then you can go home and recovery. :)Bonnie

Stacey,

You'll do fine. The hardest part is almost over...the waiting. Starting Thursday with the pre-op day time will pass quickly, and before you know it you'll be back home doing the VR mantra...breathe, walk, nap. Oh yeah, always say yes when they offer pain meds! :D We'll be waiting for you on the other side of the mountain. :)

I know that the wait is very hard, but before you know it the 18th will be upon you, you'll do fine climbing that mountain and we will be here with you along the way.........!

Stacey:

Am praying you're feeling better now. I was very apprehensive pre-op. It reminded me of the first time I went off the high-diving board at age 11 -- I was terrified and couldn't get off because there were other swimmers lined up on the ladder. Nowhere to go but off into the deep end! And it wasn't so bad, I discovered.

The same way with the heart surgery. Yeah, I hurt afterward, but I also felt ever so much better -- my heart was no longer pounding away trying to pump blood through an almost-nonfunctioning valve and my face was normal color again.

Just fast-forward to several weeks post-op, several months, etc.

You'll do just fine ...

Hang tight

Hang tight

Everyone is a little nervous going in, just remember everyone you encounter in your hospital has one job, they are going to get you well and send you home. I am 5 weeks post-op tomorrow and feel better every week. Except for the lifting part I am enjoying a pretty normal life and it feels great. Focus on getting better and getting home and leave the rest to the fine docs and nurses.
Warm regards JD
