Shelba

I saw my surgeon today....and my surgery is scheduled for March 3, a Wednesday. All of the paperwork they gave me makes it feel quite a bit more real.

I've still not settled on which valve I want yet, but I could take the rest of my life mulling over the decision. My surgeon said I could push it back if the time comes and I'm not ready. I am one of those people that needs a deadline, or I'll never do it...so having a date helps.

Shelba,

That is great news. You'll make the right decision for yourself, although it won't be easy!

Congrats. You will make the right decision. You will make the decision that is right for you and be "on the other side" before you know it.

If this helps you any, don't offer me an opportunity to say no once I'm in there! If you put it up for vote in my mind, my mind votes no and I wanna leave! :)

hi shelba!
you must feel so much better, knowing that you have a date.
the choice is one of the hardest parts of all this. please try and remember that it is a very personal thing, no rights or wrongs here. hopefully that will make it easier (sure!!!)
we'll keep you company while you await your date.
all the best, sylvia

Shelba,

Having a date made it much more real for me! You will be about ten days behind me if all goes well.

Good luck and don't stress over the decision. You'll be able to live with whatever you decide to go with. Keep a positive outlook and use the waiting room time to get things in order and get mentally at peace.

The date will be here before you know it.

Shelba - Great to hear you have a date. Since you have a month until March, you might think of things to do after surgery, during recovery. I enjoyed the time when I felt better, but before returning to work. Good luck.

Shelba,

Congratulations! I hope the time passes quickly and you will be on the road to recovery in no time.

Hey Shelba,
You have taken that first and most important step at getting over that mountain. As far as your decision on the valve, you will make the right one which ever one you chose. I thing to remember also is that even though you make a decision it will be up to the surgery once he sees what he has to work with.
I hope everything goes well for you.
Take Care

Shelba,

Congratulations on setting a date. I know the "I need a deadline" syndrome all to well, as I've just made my own valve decision (more on that in the Valve Selection forum) after finding out about the need for surgery in September! Unfortunately for me, I'm still waiting on a date; I've called the surgeon's office and asked for one, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Hang in there!

Thanks for the support, y'all. This site is a blessing, a true gift. I'm very close to choosing a valve, but I am waiting for some tests to come back before I make any grand announcements.

What would I have done without the wealth of information, experience, kindness, and generosity available on this site? Gone batty. I'm sure I would be in the fetal position, sucking my thumb at this very moment had I not found my way here.

Shelba,
I've just returned from a skiing vacation (no, I didn't get to actually ski this year) and little by little I'm trying to catch up and read all the posts made while I was away. I'm glad that you have a date for your surgery. Isn't it a relief! I felt immediately calm and relaxed as soon as I had a date that I could kinda plan my life around after weeks of feeling great uncertainty regarding any timetable. My surgery is on the 25th, right between yours and Bill's so I'll be looking for him to lead the way and you to bring up the rear!

Sue
