Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I saw my cardio today and he said it is time
for me to cross over to the other side.

Go in for my cath on 2/20 and AVR on 2/21. I asked him if it could be put off untill summer. I guess the answer is no.

I will post more when I'm out of shock:confused: :( :( :p :D mixed emotions.

Just think, you will be up and running way before summer and surgery will be heading into "deep memory land".

I will add you to my prayer list and will look forward to that first, post-surgery thread.

Take care.

Just think

Just think

Ditto Gina You will get to enjoy the summer instead of being down. You'll do great. Prayers coming your way. God Bless!!

I'm happy for you Cooker. You will have much less time to worry this way. :)

Good luck

Good luck

Good luck Cooker. I don't think there is any way to avoid that truck but ..please try not to get hit by the train. Or maybe just New Orleans has that train station.:)

At least the uncertainty is over. I remember much the same scenario, asking if I could leave it a few months, then the shock when told it had to be in a couple of weeks, not a couple of months.

Good luck.

Congratulations , soon this will all be behind you ! Your surgery is the next week after mine , I'm so pleased that you won't have to wait much longer. I guess we'll be going through recovery at the same time. Good luck and keep in touch.:)

Put you on the calendar, so now it's for "real"- as if you didn't know that! Just think what a glorious spring you will have!:)

cooker,

Curious to know why you'd want to wait until summer to have this done....

Heck, as others have noted ... this gives you less time to "worry" ... and more time during the summer to have some summer-time fun :).

Good luck ... thoughts/prayers coming your way!

Heck, I've always thought that I could do without February and March - two depressing months despite Valentine's Day and St. Pat's. I think it's a perfect time to have surgery (yes, mine was in Feb., too).

Glad you're going to get this over with, and you don't have too much time to fret. Good for you. Start shopping and celebrate - good food, good drink, good friends.

Had Pre-Op Today

Had Pre-Op Today

Hi Everyone,

Went in for blood work today....check in on Monday 2-20.
This is all too real now and my palms are sweating almost as much as the day I got married;) .

Any tricks for staying calm.................????? My faith is doing a pretty good job but I could use an extra boost right about now. :(

Thanks,

Cooker,
Try reading all the pre-surgery posts and how nervous everyone is. Then look the member up in post-surgery and see their responses about the greatest difficulty was the worry beforehand.
It happens to everyone, and you're part of "everyone." You'll have to trust that it will go well.
I'd be going out and eating some great meals and taking in some movies. You won't be getting out for a little bit after surgery, so live it up now!:)
Mary

Shopping is always my advice: it takes concentration, gets you moving, makes you feel just a little guilty, and is fun. You'll need some duds for recovery - comfy lounge clothes (at least one that closes in front so it's easy to get on); I recommend a silk undershirt - both for warmth and for comfort over the incision. You'll probably be really cold so you ought to have a warm throw (a baby quilt is the perfect size - not too heavy for you to mess with).

Do you have a recliner? You need one.

You'll need a good scale - they want you to weigh yourself every morning in case of water retention.

Get a small stool to use in the shower for the first week or so - hot water makes you lightheaded, and you'll really really want to shower a lot.

Practice with the spirometer - it'll help a lot after surgery.

Best of all, go out to eat, see a movie, have a few drinks - I know it's so worrisome, but as the surgery gets very near a deep calm and acceptance will take over; it's a mystery, but it's very welcome.

I'm with you .. I know how you feel. I was scheduled to have my surgery on the 1st of Feb, but have been sick with a cold/flu and so now I have to call my surgeon tomorrow and will re-schedule. I'll let everyone know when that will be. My thoughts and prayers will be with you as you go thur this time. As everyone has stated on here, the waiting is hard. I know I've had all kinds of thought going thru my mind. I have been trying to keep a positive attitude and thinking about how great I will be after it is all over.

Well, you need to find something so you can share it with me while you are recovering and I begin to get nervous!! :D

I was really low yesterday, no reason, just feeling so blah. It was gorgeous outside. I had errands to run. Took me forever to get my shoes on and go. Then once out, I kept running into perfect strangers who were so upbeat and happy with the day that I ended up just driving all over the place with the windows down, the heat cranked up and my car stereo blasting!!! For me, it's music! Sunshine helps, too! People are a wonderful tonic.

Good luck. Hang in there! Stay positive. Above all. Stay positive. You'll do great!!

:) Marguerite

You go in tomorrow, Cooker?

You go in tomorrow, Cooker?

 Cooker,
I know you're scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, but are you entering the hospital tomorrow? If so, I want to wish you an easy journey and a fast recovery.
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
Mary

Me, too, Cooker. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow and Tuesday. All I can tell you is that it will go much faster than you think, and that you may feel much calmer that you ever believed you would.

Best wishes,

Will be thinking of you, Cooker and looking forward to all good reports- the best will be when you are back here, posting once more.
