Hi all! Just wanted to update you on my kiddies - I had the problem 2 weeks ago - had 1 child echoed and the hospital flipped out - called my pediatrician - said there was no reason, insurance wasn't going to pay - blah blah blah - after talking to you guys - I followed your advice and called my insurance company who very nicely told me the hospital is nuts, this is a standard test and will be covered etc. - anyways it all worked out and I had the final 3 done today!!! YIPPPEEEE The tech was awesome and I didnt even have to tell him about BAV - he asked me " Does your husband have heart problems?" I said "Yes, Valve" He said, Is it Bicuspid Aortic valve?" I said "Yes" He said "Okay, let's find those leaflets! Sure enough I saw all 3 with three leaflets!!!! The tech said "there is the Mercedes Benz sign!!! I did not go in to my first childs echo because the tech was a woman (I did not have to - instead I sat with my 2 littler ones in the waiting room who were being very rambunctious)So now I have that little niggling feeling that I will never be happy because I didnt see it for myself! Oh well, I will have the word from the doctor in the next two weeks.
I am almost fully relieved! I will keep you posted! Thank you all for all of your advice - it took 3 months to get these echoes into play and together we did it!!! thank you!!!!
Christine (who has Mercedes Benz children!!):D

Great news, Christine. I am sure you are all greatly relieved.

Great news!!!!! Now I think you need to go buy a Benz to celebrate!:D

What a great tech you had and such good news. Time to celebrate. I will pray that your first child's is clear as well.

Ohh this is EXCELLENT news...

3 mercedes and the other-one almost probably mercedes as well....

The only clue I could possibly give you to help in a pre-view of that echo you didnt witness would be the length of time it took,,,,

BUT...the tech who did your kiddies scans may do it differently to the lady who did my 3 boys...

are you ready? to hear/read...

Steve and Matt who have BAVD ...their echoes both took in excess of 45 minutes...
Ben who has a bit of mitral regurgitation was declared all-clear in ten-minutes at the most...

Our Tech was lovely , she expalined it all as we went along ...silly me sat at the end of the bed in a teensy room with the kids smelly feet in my face the whole time  ...

BUT...as I said DO NOT take this for gospel...your tech may like spending 45 minutes per echo or even just do the quick 5 minute sticky-beak to look for the merc. sign...its better able to be seen in systole is it...on the working phase not the resting phase of the heart-beat...

all the best for a fourth MERCEDES :D
