Today I reached and passed my goal of rowing one million meters on my Concept 2 rowing machine. Ar Bee and I formed an online 'club' where our total meters compete against university rowing teams and other clubs. Here's a link to our standings - we're currently #244 but it changes daily:

When I first announced my million meter goal, Harpoon asked for a screen shot of the rower's monitor when I reached my goal. So here it is:

As the data shows, I've logged in 77 hours of rowing since August 2. So what is my next goal, you ask? I'm shooting for two million more by the end of this year! :D

Congratulations Bill.
What an awesome feat and certainly one to brag about. You are an inspiration to all of us.
Smiles, :)

So, if this has become your exercise program of choice rather than swimming, can we then call it "Row VS. Wade" :D
( I'll take my meds now and go back into the corner....)
Seriously, great going Bill! Making an exercise goal come true especially after the crap we've been through is not only remarkable, it is to be congratulated. Keep on keepin' on!

Congratulations Bill !!! That is awesome and it feels so good to complete a 'goal' - you keep it up.. Your an inspiration to many. :D

Congratulations Bill on your big milestone. You are an inspiration! Especially on such a cold day as this as I'm arguing with myself on whether to go work out or not.

YEAH BILL! ! My goodness, what an accomplishment. You should be so proud of yourself. We are here on the forum.

Bill - Congrats again! The "Row Hearty" club just gained a member and jumped to 242. ;) Yippee! Rowing is fun stuff. . .swish, glide, glide. . . :D

Oh Les,
That was so bad, it was good!

Congratulations Bill! I had no doubt but that you would accomplish the million miles. I just wish I had bought a rower, so I could be on the team.

Congratulations Bill! I made my first post op ski trip over the Christmas holidays and I'm starting back on my bicycle this month. I had been spending time in phase 3 rehab and doing some weight training but the last time I went to see my surgeon he said, "no weight lifting" due to my Dacron repair of the aorta. So row on and enjoy every stroke!

Thanks, everyone!

Tom, remember that a million meters is only 600 miles. I think you're still way ahead of me - I know Mark Wagner is!

Chilihead,
I'd like to get back on the bike, too, but the rowing has kind of got me hooked, and bad weather is no excuse. Are you listening, Karlynn?

Melissa,
Welcome to Row Hearty. Soon you'll be joining the Million Meter Club! We can wear our Million Meter T Shirts to the VR reunion!

Les, In my case it was Row v. Weighed :D

And to all - it is YOU all that inspire me. When I first logged onto this site just about a year ago, I was worried about undergoing surgery and what my life would be like after AVR. You all showed me that we can live normal, productive, and in many cases, BETTER lives than we did before our surgeries. You helped me learn to appreciate what I'd been through but not to dwell on it.

I'm not bragging (well, only a little) but rather sharing my success with all of you who REALLY helped make it possible. Thank you!

bravo

bravo

i am impressed indeed!!!

77 hours in 6 month, that's app. 1 hour every other day - you are committed!

well2u
ar bee, your humble companion

Hilarious!

Great job! I had a personal trainer who said that rowing for 5 minutes is the equivalent of 15 minutes on an eliptical trainer machine. Keep up the good work. I may be looking at purchasing a rowing machine in the near future.
