There is a new study out that lists life expectancy for Americans by county. Here is an excerpt from one artical I read.
Although income clearly affects longevity, "It's not the high-income urban populations like Westchester County, New York, that do the best," says Murray, "but the rural Midwest populations." The highest county-wide life expectancy in the United States (barring race) is found in Stearns County, Minnesota, where the average life span for women is 83--equal to that of women in Japan.
I was born in Stearns County, MN. where my two grandmothers lived to be 89 and 91. My grandpas lived to be 83 and 91 too. I wonder if it makes a difference that I now live in neighboring Sherburne Co.?
I believe they said that MN as a whole came in second behind the state of Hawaii.
