I have been turned down by my insurance company for a home test unit...I went through QAS they worked with my doctor. My insurance still turned it down.

The funny thing is my insurance company is great they never turn down anything.

Does anyone have any tricks or ideas that will help to try and get approved.
My insurance co. is Blue Cross Blue Shield of florida.

Thanks
Dave

I had to buy mine. Not cheap, but at least I don't have to go to the cardio and wait for an hour and still have to pay for the privilege of waiting + the charge for the INR test!!:(

I figure it will take about 2 1/2 years to offset the investment - not including my time or gas for trips to the Dr. We like to travel and you haven't lived until you try to get a routine INR done when you're several states away from home!

Even if you wind up buying your own machine - it's worth it!

I got turned down the first time but then George from QAS kept on them and got it approved. George told me that if you have a mechanical valve they have to approve it cause you have a life time need to be on coumadin. I also have blue cross/blue sheild. Good luck and keep trying !!!
I also think they turn everyone down the first time to see if you are really serious about it.

My approval with BCBS took a long time because it was being processed through two states and one of them was BCBS of Florida.
I found out that they were dropping part of the ID when it would get processed and so the claim would get denied.
Eventually, after several calls, the claim went through with the correct ID and was completely covered.:)
Keep trying, I think it is a test of patience!:D
