Hi guys! It´s being a long time since my last post.
I do have a question. Since I moved from the U.S., I´m living in Argentina, I´ve checking my inr at home. 2 weeks ago, I was taking 15mg of coumadin and the result was 3.8, so I lowered the coumadin to 13.5 mg and checked again. 1 week ago my inr was 3.0. I´m still taking 13.5 mg of coumdin. My question is: should I need to stay on 13.5 mg or less?
Thank you for your help and support.

The correct dose of Coumadin is the one that keeps your INR in the desired range. Since you have an Aortic valve, I would guess that your INR range would be 2.0 to 3.0. If that is so, you are just fine where you are now. You are at the top of your desired range.

Many folks here prefer to be at the top of their range. I have A-fib and take 5.0 Coumadin each day. My range is 2.0 to 3.0. I tested last week with an INR of 3.0. I plan to continue at 5.0 daily until the next test.

Hope this helps.

Seems like the 10% reduction from 15 to 13.5mg brought you to the mid-range. I assume your range is 2.5-3.5. My last INR, 3 days ago was also 3.8 and I chose to make no change. Usually, a slight blip like this, is the result of test variance or a little change in my habits or diet. I'll check again in a couple of weeks and if it is still that high I will reduce 2.5mg, about 8% (I am on 35mg/wk). My advice is to stay at 13.5 and retest per your normal test schedule.

Thank you very much!!!
Since I moved out from FL, and living in South America, things are different here.
I saw my cardiologist, 2 months ago, and he told me I can do the test at home, but at least once or twice a year I do need to see an Hematologist, so he can perform the test.

THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!
I´ll be back soon.
Take care.
