Okay people.

I have seen a few from my neck of the woods in here.

I did see some respond to me in another thread. I just wanted to ask for a referral to some "cutters" here in Houston.

I checked out the guy I might use, Dr. David Ott at St Lukes, and I'd like to check out some others just in case.

Oh, and to be nosey I went on the appraisal district web site and checked the stats on his and my Cardio's homes. Cardio's shows $1.1 M and the Surgeon is clocking in at $2.5M. Down here that is a 6400 sq ft and a 8200 sq ft home respectively..... Just making sure they make some serious dough.

Hi Kevin,

I'm a St. Luke's patient for all my 3 OHS. My first surgeries performed at St. Luke's, Dr. Denton Cooley was the surgeon. Dr. Cooley however, does not do any more surgeries because the man is 93 years old but still pretty much in command at the Texas Heart Institute! :) Personally, I idolize the man & I credit him for saving my life twice in 1975. :)

My last surgeon was Dr. George Reul but I heard in June/07 that he was not doing surgeries anymore because he himself was going through some medical problems & was out of the country!

I have heard great things about Dr. Ott & there's also Dr. Coselli & Dr. Duncan. If you want to find out more about them go into this website: http://www.texheartsurgeons.com/AboutUs.htm. I cannot say enough good things about the medical staff at St. Luke's. They are first class as far as I am concerned. :)

What kind of surgery are you needing if I may ask?

Good luck to you & I hope that you find the right surgeon for you & most importantly, that you are comfortable with your choice! Take care~!

Houston

I had AVR done by Dr Gerald Lawrie at Methodist on 12/18/07. He did a fantastic job. He did a minimally invasive procedure. I was out of the hospital in 3.5 days and back at work in 2 weeks. What I really liked about him was the amount of time he spent with my wife and I answering all of our questions before and after the surgery. I had an EC tissue valve.
