Hi Sweety, good to see you posting once again!

Yes Medicare will pay for the monitor and testing supplies, but getting a Doctor to approve it is almost impossible, since they actually have them buying the monitor and getting reimbursed for it. I don't know all that facts, so I would suggest you contact Lance at QAS and discuss it with him.

does medicare oay for home testing?if it does how muchdoes it pay? lettitia

Medicare does cover home testing, if they approve you for testing.
Right now if you go to a clinic to be tested, you will not be charged.
If you do it at home, you are charged $29.00 per month to test once a
week for supplies and machine rental. It is less trouble then going to a
clinic, but more costly.:(

I have had a testing machine for 3 yrs. Medicare pays for my supplies.I pay nothing! But you have to test once a week and call QAS with you #. They fax the infor to your Dr. I was afraid when my husband retired 2 yrs. ago that I was going to have a fight on my hands. QAS took care of everthing.

Medicare Coverage

Medicare Coverage

Hello,

Medicare covers patient's who have had mechanical heart valve replacement surgery, with diagnosis code of V43.3. This does not include tissue or repaired valves, and you have to be on Coumadin at least 3 months in order to qualify. In addition, a test has to be performed weekly, and results have to be called into our toll free number, so the managing physician can get a weekly report on results.

Regarding cost, Medicare (CMS) will only cover 80% of the charges, but if you have a supplemental insurance, you will be covered at 100%. Please call with any questions, and thanks!
