Hi Everyone,

My Surgery was on Monday Nov 21st for AVR and got home on Saturday Nov 26th, everything went well with surgery, I had a lot of bleeding and they did a transfusiong, but I am home now and recovering as best as possible, doing my walking and exercises, and resting, It will be a long recovery but a GOOD one, THANK you for your thoughts and prayers, a lot of my pain is from the incision, and I have a lot of neck and back pain from lying in bed so long, I am starting to get my appettite back and moving around a little bit. Also important to do my breathing exercises. Off to bed THANKS again. :smile2:

Great to see you on the other side. Glad to see you are home already. Keep up the exercises and keep us filled in!

Skyler should be going in tomorrow morning. Surgery time 8am.

Congrats on your successful surgery! Best wishes to you throughout your recovery

Hope you are keeping well! How are you doing?

I am doing well, walking indoors 20 minutes 3 times day, doing my Breathing exercises 6x day, the incision pain hurts every now and then, my incision looks good, getting my appetite back to normal, trying to get my INR levels straight with the Coumadin (kind of an experience) how they adjust your medication. Had an Transfusion during surgery, so my hands and face somedays look very pale, and I feel weak, have to get my blood levels back up, that will take time, I will ask doctor if I can take some iron pills. Overall doing very well, THANKS

Sounds like you are doing at least par for the course. I required a transfusion as well the morning after surgery. I was not expecting that with the cell savers. Most people do not get transfused, but my hematocrit was so low that morning I could hardly stand up without fainting. Got one unit and I was much better after that. Pictures from that time show me looking rather pasty and pale too. And I was definitely weak. Since they don't transfuse you all the way back to normal, it took me a couple of months before I was back there. I have had no problems with anemia since. You got sent home fairly quickly. Take it easy, rest up, gradually increase your activity and get into rehab (cardiac, that is). :)
