We're in Miami Beach for the weekend. My partner Dan has paintings on display at the Bridge Art air in Miami. Here are some shots of our hotel, the newly refurbished Fountainebleau Hotel. Wish you all were here!

How about some shots of Dans paintings?

How dare you leave me out here in the cold cold state of Ohio! 18°F Canton, Ohio

Lucky you-its 22 degress here in MA!
We were in Key west & Miami this past April-love it! Did lots of walking, the Art Deco is amazing in Miami! Have fun. Don't forget to stop by the "News Cafe" for breakfast! Also, the Nexxt Cafe on Lincoln is great for lunch!

Have a great time and let us know how you enjoy the hotel. Dick and I have reservations there in February for the Miami boat show.

Funny...I've been all over Fl. but never to Miami.
Grandmother used to live in Ft.Lauderdale, and went to
Spring Break in Daytona senior year:rolleyes:
Drove that endless turnpike many times.

Have a good time!!

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

We had a nice day yesterday here in Southern Florida. We went to the Bridge Art Fair in Miami to meet up with our friend Howard, who lives in Ft. Lauderdale. It's always nice to see friends who live in the area when you travel, and Howard graciously drove down to meet us. We had a nice lunch together.

In the late afternoon we spent some time around the luxurious pool at the Fountainebleau. It's fun to live the life of the rich and famous, if even only for a weekend! Phyllis, I really like this hotel. You will enjoy it. I'm sure.

We spent the evening in South Beach. We had dinner in a fine Japanese restaurant that offered some of our favorite sake and foods. They went went for a stroll on Ocean Drive, which was busy as always. If I had a choice of places to have a getaway apartment in Florida, South Beach would be my pick hands down. I don't care for Ft. Lauderdale. It's boring and there's nothing to do there. South Beach is always fun!

Ross, here are two of Dan's paintings on display at the art fair. The large one is entitled "Okayama Castle," and the other "Gargoyle Santiago."

Jim, we are looking forward to our two nights of luxury, too. Dick graduated from the University of Miami and so we spend a lot of time in Miami Beach and Coral Gables. Joe's Stone Crab is one of our favorites. Miami and South Beach is one of the big reasons we bought here in Boca on the east coast of FL instead of the west- only 45 minutes away, but quieter and somewhat less traffic.

shorts?? SHORTS ???? I've just been out for a walk - boots, scarf wrapped around twice, hood up, and my ears still froze! Oh, what I would do to be somewhere I could be wearing shorts right now . . .

BTW, hope you had a good time, and thanks for posting pics of Dan's paintings.

Thanks for the nice pictures. I like the paintings too - is there a travel theme going on?

We had snow last night and my daughter parked her car on the street and someone came around the corner too fast in a pickup truck and rear-ended it and totalled it!! NUTS

Oh Enjoy,Enjoy glad your there, its too cold in Canada right now:)

oh, bless you. I grew up in Miami. What a wonderful place it was then. It was a town, albeit a huge one, and I loved every moment of life. Sadly, it changed in the 50s and gradually most moved out to leave it as a Spanish speaking city. It holds many, many fond memories for me. Hope you are enjoying it.

Okay Jim I am really jealous. I think the insurance company should send us to Florida to stay in that hotel while they rebuild our house after our recent fire. We are staying at the luxurious(not) Best Western in Georgia. I love Dans paintings by the way.
