Harry,

I don't think there is any more danger in thrill rides than in playing sports. We have all heard of high school jocks dying during a game. People die all the time from undiagnosed heart problems and reasons no one ever determines.

The reason you hear so much about theme park deaths is because the media just loves the drama. In addition, it helps the lawsuits. I know that sounds cold but I am really getting worried that a few incidents a year will end up costing everyone else their fun. Considering the massive numbers of people that visit theme parks, I am surprised there are not more deaths.

Kinda like a plane that crashes. You only hear about the one that goes down, not the thousands that arrive safely each day.

OMG that poor girl! Wonder if she had an underlying heart condition? DCM or something like that?

But do we have to talk about disasters on rides and planes just before we flyout to florida??!!

Accident Frequency

Accident Frequency

I think the frequency of incidents is due to the ability of these rides to push the laws of physics to the limits.

I believe that only the best fighter pilots in the world can keep from blacking out when the body gets into the 7g range.

These rides are pushing 6 g's for short durations.

As technology progresses, they will continue to make rides more extreme, and the human body will also continue to be over stressed.

Chances are that there was some underlying issue with her heart either mechanically or electrically..

If not, the ride would be killing everyone!

Either way, it is a tragic story and I hope it never happens again.
