Thanks for the map, Randy. I am opposite the state from you - and nervous, too. Once the storm hits the gulf it can go anywhere. They say there's something up there (maybe steering winds) that will keep it down there headed west - northwest and that means Texas, perhaps. Still, you know what they say about hurricanes. The only thing predictable about them is that they are unpredictable.

Now that my son-in-law, daughter & grandaughter have moved to Puertico Rico I have a personal, family stake in the hurricane season. One of the things I noticed while in Puerto Rico was that many of the houses were concrete with tile floors. It looks like these places are designed to give maximum protection against hurricanes. It seems like there is a great deal of respect for hurricanes in that tiny island. (Hmmm-I just reviewed my little post --- think I detect some wishful thinking from Grandpa).
