I found out the hard way how difficult, if not impossible, it is to get cats to go where you want them.
I feed my 3 outside dawgs and put down food for three outside cats we share with my wife’s sister and brother-in-law before I go to work every morning. As some of you know we live in the country. Some of you also know how much damage an armadillo can do to a yard. They feed on grubs, which is a good thing but unfortunately they won’t stay in the woods. They insist on digging up your yard. The ONLY WAY to control them is to KILL THEM.
Other morning just as I was finishing feeding the dawgs, I saw two armadillos wandering around the yard. I ran in and grabbed my shotgun (with a light mounted on the barrel—it was still dark outside). When I got back out two of the cats had now found the armadillos and wanted to play. I tried to get them out of the way without running the armadillos off too. Finally one armadillo went to the left taking one cat in tow while the other armadillo (with a cat shadow) kept in front of me. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get the other cat out of the way. Finally he stopped following the armadillo and I had a clear shot. Unfortunately I had to fire OVER the cat (he wasn’t in danger). When I shot BOTH cats departed at a very fast clip. I figured they wouldn’t stop running until they hit the river. :tongue2: BUT ONE LESS ARMADILLO!!!!
I called the wife later in the day and told her she needed to give both cats a treat. I didn’t expect they would even come close to the house for several days but when she called them they came a running. They even came up to me that evening when I got home but I swear they were looking close to make sure my hands were empty.
TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, YOU CAN’T HERD CATS!!!!! :tongue2::rolleyes2::wink2::eek2:
May God Bless,
Bubba :smile2:
