Hey, I'm a 17 year old female and recently have been having chest pain. I use to do a ton of crunches and stuff trying to get in shape and I think thats what may have caused it. Does anyone know if you can like pull muscles in your chest if you do them the wrong way? I've stopped with the sit-ups, but there are certain occurances when I still have the chest pain. When I'm laying down and I sit up, when I press on the area(the center of my chest) and when I sneeze. The pain is very localized. Does anyone know what could be wrong with me??? Thanks

Hello and welcome to our humble home here at VR

It is possible that you've pulled or strained a few muscles and that's causing the problem, but any type of chest pain is something for which you should be concerned and seek a Doctors evaluation. Do you have any history of heart problems? :)

Yours is probably muscle related, but like I said, seek a Doctors advice to make sure that's what it is. :)

It sounds as if it's something like costochondritis which is a fancy word for pain in the chest area near where the ribs join in the center, but you need to go to your doctor to rule out any other problems which might be heart related. So call the doctor TODAY and get an appointment as soon as you can.

When you have any kind of chest pain, you should always go and get it checked out. Please take care of yourself.

Good luck

When my son was your age, he was water-skiing all day..showing off. That night he laid in bed moaning and holding his chest. We rushed him to ER where they told him he had pulled a muscle..How are you doing now..Let us know. Bonnie

Hey everyone...I'm doing pretty good I guess. I can't really feel the pain that much unless I'm pressing on the middle of my sternum. It's not a terribly sharp pain, just kind of an uncomfortable, mild pain. gotta go, just thought i'd update you.

nope, i didn't go to the doctor to get a diagnosis. i wish it would just go away. its definately better though since it only hurts when I press on it and when i turn different ways and also when I like do crunches and stuff. oh well...hopefully it goes away soon.
