I'm sitting here waiting here for my cardiologist's on-call nurse to call me back. On Wed. afternoon, I fell getting into the bathtub. Pretty bad fall, but I didn't hit my head. I'm pretty sure I've torn my left hamstring. No bruising until last night and now I'm black and blue from my buttocks to my knee. The pain is almost unbearable. I checked my INR just now and it is 4.0. Should I be unduly concerned? LINDA

I'd be concerned with the pain, not the INR or the bruise. You will bruise when you fall, everyone does. Personally, I don't think my bruises now are any worse than before, but they take longer to go away. I don't think you should be waiting for a call from the cardiologist. This has nothing to do with your heart. I think you should be waiting for a call from someone who can address your pain.

Take some Tylenol and if pain goes away, I personally would not worry about, since it was a bad fall. If it does not, give your doctor's office a call and whoever is on call can advise you about the pain cause.

Good luck and keep us posted :)

A bad bruise on your thigh could be painful. For such a large bruise you may have lost enough blood to create a problem. Check your blood pressure to see if it is normal.

I had a large bruise covering my thighs and my legs. My blood pressure was very low and I ended up needing blood.

Oh I feel so sorry for you! I have a terriable time with bruising, there is some bruise cream out at Rite Aid that really helps. You might need a lot of it! I would soak in epsom salt and warm water for sure it really does help. Witch hazel is also good. I can just about feel your pain, I would also check your BP.

Linda:

Sorry you've taken a tumble.
Sounds like you haven't had it checked out by your family doctor, to see if he/she needs to refer you on to a specialist. If that's so, you need to do that Monday.
