Hi I hope this is ok to post here. butMy name is Lyn I live in NJ and have a 17 year old son Justin who was born w/ several congenital heart defects (TGA,VSD,PS) and May 2 05 just had his 4th OHS.I am friends w/ wendy (HI Wendy!!) Andrews mom as well as Janet, little Katie's Mom. Justin just got a pulmonary valve for the first time in May, he had his conduit replaced and got a 28 m Bovine valve and is doing wonderful actually was surfing yesterday :) After Justin's surgery Janet told me about this great group , but my brain was still tired so i forgot about it until I was signing Kates book yesterday.I am looking forward to meeting everyone. here's the link to Justin's care page if anyone wants to see a little more about him, www.caringbridge.org/nj/justinw

Hi Lyn and welcome aboard.

If you need anything just give a yell. There is a thead going for Katie in small talk. If things seem crazy around here right now, it's because we just changed to a new server today. ;)

Hi Lyn,

Welcome to this site. Right now so many of us are linked in love to Janet and Katie and all they are going through that to have you join us at this time is like meeting a family member that I didn't even know about. Make yourself at home... :)

Hi Lyn and welcome! I'm so glad you joined us. I've said so many times that I'd much rather be the patient, than be the Mom of the patient. You ladies are Super Women in my eyes.

Mornin, Lyn and welcome to VR. It it never good news when there is heart surgery, but when it's a child, it just seems so much worse somehow. Blessings to all you moms who must carry their child through a thing like this. As Karlynn says - supermoms/women!

Lynn,
I think Ross meant the thread was in Post Surgery. Things are a little crazy because we just changed to a new server yesterday!

I'm glad you decided to join us. I'm sure you wish Justin's getting a new pulmonary valve wasn't your ticket into the group, but none of us do!
I saw your post on Katie's carepage, so I was kind of looking for you this morning.
Welcome to VR and please ask, or relate, any questions or experiences you can think of.

Welcome Lynn

Welcome Lynn

Welcome!!!

These are great folks here. Genuinely caring and helpful. Not to mention, smarter than some cardiologists.

Lynn,

Glad to have you aboard and that Justin is doing fine. Boy, he has had more than his share of sugeries. Hope this one lasts for a long time.

Take care and stay in touch.

Thank you all. yes I would much rather it have been me to go thru so much, then Justin. he had his first surgery at 10 days, then 18 months, 10 years and may oh and a smaller surgery to remove his broken pacer last summmer. he also had BE when he was 11. BUT he does great, he's always played sports, soccer,& basketball for a few years and baseball as a catcher since he was 4, he also snowboards, skateboards and is a beginning surfer, he earned Eagle Scout at 14 so doesn't let much get him down.
Jax, we usually go to OC when we hit the shore. Thank you again for the welcome and if I can ver answer any questions on congential heart defects, ask away, Lyn

Sounds like a great kid

Sounds like a great kid

Lyn,

He sounds like a great kid. We live a stone's throw (hard 5 iron) from the surfing beach in the north end of OCNJ. I hope you get "down the shore" soon!

Hi, i joined in march and found this forum brilliant everybody is so good and have lots of great info. I have had my ups and downs and somtimes find it to up setting to even come on this forum. I stayed off for awhile i am now finding it easier to accept my sons condition, before i was kind of obsessed and taking in to much information. Now i am more relaxed and can handle it more. I saw Justin because you answered one of my questions. he looks really great and full of life, just like my son does. You wouldnt even know there was anything wrong. You must be really proud.
