Now that I'm on the upcoming surgery list, I've been informing various family members, and the Thanksgiving weekend was a great opportunity to tell several people at the same time in person and/or over the phone (since I knew where they'd be). We were at my in-laws' house and my wife's aunt (who we share a love of downhill skiing with) called. I asked to speak to her directly so I could tell her.

I told her I was going to have open heart surgery and she replied, completely deadpan, "Why, are they going in to search for it?" I completely cracked up. It was just what I needed, so I thought I'd share...

Dale,
"Searching for it" at least implies that she thinks you might have one!!!

Karlynn;)

Back in my sales management days in the car business I had a salesman who swore that I was a "heartless b-----d"

Now I have proof that I'm not:cool: !

Guess everyone else has encountered the same:

When I've mentioned to friends and even strangers that I've had OHS, they say, "Well, bless your heart!" as a routine remark.

My response: "Please do!" Then they look startled -- and laugh.
