I don't know if I'm doing this right because my mom didn't really explain in full detail how I'm supposed to do this.. But my mom wanted me to keep you all updated on how her surgery went. She had heart surgery today. It was successful, and her Aortic valve is replaced successfully. She's in ICU right now recovering. She's in a lot of pain and keeps asking for pain meds. And she's really really thirsty. Her lungs, heart and back is what's hurting her. I don't know if you guys know this or not, but my mom has really bad back problems which cause her a lot of pain. And of course laying on a flat operating table for 7 hours isn't going to help that. Well just thought I'd update you all on how she's doing. I really hope I did this right. If not, at least I tried haha :)

You did it just right.
It's always a celebratory occasion to arrive on the other side. Speaking from experience, your mom's pain will be well taken care of as she improves day after day. I'm surprised she's awake so soon, everybody's different.
Thanks for the update. Best wishes to your mom.

I'm glad she's doing well - If she can complain, she's doing well! Back pain after this surgery is very common. I can imagine she's going to get an extra dose of it with her back problems.

They are generally pretty good with pain control, so if she's uncomfortable, make sure the nurses and doctors know it.

Thanks for taking the time to update. They paint the mouth and lips with something to dry them during surgery, so that should be faded by now. I second the comments on having her request help with pain management--it's important for recovery.

Best wishes to your mom for a smooth recovery!
