Do they still give you a little pillow when you have surgery? I still have mine. It is with all my other pretty pillows and every now and then I pick it up and hug it. Does that sound silly? It is even shaped like a heart. It was the most comfortable thing. It was such a big help when I coughed or had to move immediately after surgery. And I used it for awhile after. It felt good against my chest.
The women on here are all talking about bras and sleeping. I did the bra thing but my pillow really was the life saver.

I took my little pillow everywhere. Even after I didn't have to have it as much I would take it in the car.
I used it in bed or recliner or wherever I was.
How many still have their pillows?

!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH Ross! Thats not fair! Hmmm Some day when I meet you at a reunion, I'm gonna bring you a heart pillow :)

Ross, I never received a pillow either for both surgeries... Bet I was billed for them though!:p

No pillows here either, and I was in a children's hospital.

My wife got me a cute angel bear though, I clung to that on more than one occassion....

Not for coughing though, I was beyond that point by the time I COULD cough.

Baylor's OHS patients get pillows gratis of its heart volunteer program and one of Dallas' biggest florists. Has all this stamped on the pillow.
I was in a motorized cart July 4 at a grocery when a woman stopped to tell me about her surgery (bypass, 6 years previous).
A friend gave me the pillow she got at St. Luke's in Houston. The Baylor pillow is broader across and much more comfortable.

I still have mine. It is red and I guess it came from the Mended Hearts orgainization. There was a pen with it and did get some autographs at the hospital. It was a lifesaver when getting up and down. Have it on my bed as a keepsake.

I guess at the Cleveland Clinic, they used to give the heart pillows to the patient, but Wayne had to buy me one in the gift shop ($30.00!!) - the pillow came with an autograph pen and I had a lot of nurses, cardiologists, and the assistant surgeon sign my pillow - wish I could have got Cosgrove's autograph - that might have been worth paying some money for, to someone someday!! Hee!

I rarely used my pillow. I just wrapped my arms around my chest and held on tight when I sneezed or coughed. I had the pillow out for a while here at home, but have put it away - "out of sight, out of mind" I guess is what I am trying to do - to forget the ordeal for a while. Ha-ha. Forget?? Don't think that will ever happen.

I got the red heart with the really great graphics of a heart on it, plus the pen. It was invaluable at the time.

The other day my daughter found it wedged next to my bed and handed it to me - I have to admit it DID NOT give me warm and fuzzies - it remided me of the 'dark days' of recovery. I was surprised by my reaction.

I wonder if the Cleveland Clinic stopped in '01? My surgery was 1-26-01 and my roommate who was there a week before me got one, but I didn't! I think we all got cheated!

I have mine. It's purple on one side and purple and pink flowers on the other. I put it on my bed with the other pillows everyday. I'm going to have to make pillows for those of you who did not get them! (Better yet, maybe I should make some really nice ones and sell them in the hospital gift shops ;) )

I still have mine. It is red and it came from the Mended Hearts orgainization. It was a best friend.

We got a bear - "Sir Koffalot" - I have him put away. I'm with Kenny on this - I had him with me through all the bitter days of coughing and sneezing; and really don't want to mess with him anymore.

Some people told me that it is better to use a bed pillow --as that can be laundered.

I put mine in a couple of pillow cases to keep it nice. I am with the rest and I put mine away as I don't want to remember those past days.

I would still like to see one with the VR.com logo on it that we can purchase from the site.

Take Care
