Your doc may want you to wear a Holter monitor at home to catch these palps and see what kind they are and if they will need treatment or not. Some palps show up from stress or even diet issues. Best to get checked out.

Robyn,

I agree with Bina that it is best to get it checked out, and see what it is. I had Atrial Flutter after surgery, which was something that they definitely wanted to know about and stop, so I was readmitted to the hospital overnight and put on a drug regimen. There are other palpitations that are not as big of an issue, but you would want your doc or cardiologist to make that determination. I currently still get palps when I lay down flat, but they are of a kind that is less of a concern. I did let my doc know about them, and they asked me to let them know if they worsen or if I develop any other symptoms. Again, I would talk to your doc.

Where did you have your surgery? I am in Fargo, not too far from you, although I had to look up Tolna! Didn't know where that was until I looked it up!

Please tell your cardio about them to have peace of mind. They could be stress or diet related, or something you both needs to discuss further.

Dietwise, I personally cannot tolerate more caffeine/coke/chocolates more than once in a while.

Good luck and keep us posted.

There are so many different kinds of palps that you should get a holter done. I had a-fib 8 weeks after surgery and they put me on Sotalol for that which helped out, I now don't get it at all (9 months) I do have 36,000 PVCs per day which are extremely annoying but nothing to worry about. Many people also have PACs. Don't try to self diagnose though that will just cause anxiety and more palps so if they are very frequent have your cardiologist run an EKG in office to see if they can catch any of them or get a holter.
