Hey,

I have been having flutters since last night. They don't feel like a skipped beat, but more of a gush like movement. Is this something to be worried about.

Nessie,
I can't really identify what you're experiencing from your description (could be some kind of arrythmia) but the easiest thing to do to ease your mind is to make a quick call to your cardio's office. It may be nothing.....or something. Let the pros make the determination.

No way to know for sure without an EKG while the feeling is happening. Touch base with your doctor who will inquire about other symptoms happening at the same time and then will make the call on where to go from there.

... and the problem with an EKG is that whatever it is you are concerned about may not show up at the time you are taking the EKG. Like my rapid heart rate, which has been continuously in the 90's and 100's EXCEPT when my cardio's nurse practitioner ordered an EKG. At the EKG it was 86. (Just like those wierd noises your car makes that completely disappear when you take it in to the mechanic.) If this "flutter" keeps occurring, and is bothering you, you might talk to your cardio about a Holter monitor or even a 30 day event recorder.

See your doctor; it could be a-fib or some other arrythmia. I started into a-fib a week after my AVR and could feel it like crazy but the doctors told me that some people can hardly feel it and some people cannot feel it! It needs addressed. You're on Coumadin, right?
